I pity this generation!
How can you trade off good character for a mere accent problem?
Everyone has an accent issue across the world.
If you go to the UK the home of the English language, the accent of an Englishman is different from that of a Scottish, Welshman, or Irishman.
Let her intentionally start relearning how to pronounce those key words that pose a challenge to her otherwise consult Mondale for help.

Your reasons are valid op. The H or L factor is real and will definitely show up in conversation with her. For the op, that H factor can be transferred to your kids and that's probably what he's trying to avoid.
