Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has drawn a controversial comparison between Nigeria’s current political trajectory and that of Cameroon under long-serving President Paul Biya, warning that unless Nigerians act decisively in the 2027 election, President Bola Tinubu could emulate Biya’s decades-long tenure.https://guardian.ng/news/tinubu-will-try-to-be-president-for-life-like-paul-biya-el-rufai/

I agree with El Rufai. Rewarding Tinubu’s failure with another term is the biggest mistake Nigerians will make ever! |

When they start scaremongering to this ludicrous extent, then you know the born-to-rule Northern supremacists and hegemonists, the very same people keeping their people in illiteracy and hideous backwardness, are desperate to see the back of Jagaban. Meaning he is leading well for Nigeria and Nigerians and not those who want Nigeria's wealth for themselves, their family and affiliates alone to then throw crumbs at almajiris. All the scaremongering rhetoric is in vain and has failed already. The Northern-hegemonists are only frustrated and agitated because an independent-minded Southerner is in power and not a Northerner or Southern stooge they can use as boy boy like GEJ or Obi. |

I can't agree less. Tinubu's penchant for the "grab it, snatch it, and run away with it" brand of politics will never allow him to relinquish the presidency even after serving his full constitutionally guaranteed term. And with the kind of supporters he has, zom.bies, Agbad.orians, mandate standers, they will undoubtedly support him regardless. That is why I opined in another thread, where Paul Biya's daughter urged Cameroonians not to vote for her father again, that: Can Tinubu’s children follow the example of Paul Biya’s daughter by publicly urging Nigerians not to re-elect their father in 2027? Especially given his spectacular failure in governance marked by widespread hardship, strife, hunger, unemployment, and insecurity and in light of his own promise that if he could not provide constant electricity, he should not be voted for?

“This government is trying to centralize everything instead of devolving powers to the lower levels but the sum total of this is that we are facing an evil of a large proportion in the history of this country that if we don’t come together to end this Tinubu administration in 2027, Tinubu will try to be our Paul BiyaIn 2023, they accused Tinubu of trying to Islamize the country with the Muslim/Muslim ticket. In 2025, the new scaremongering tactics they are deploying is “president for life”. They failed in 2023, they will fail again in 2027. For proper context, no president since 1999 has done so well in devolving power to the sub-nationals more than president Bola Tinubu. Mr. President has passionately pushed for local government autonomy even when almost all governors are against him. As part of that push, there is no single local government in Nigeria today that is being administered by appointed caretakers. This same president has devolved power to the states to allow them generate and distribute electricity. Today, serious state governors can now generate and distribute electricity within their states without the need to first send the power to the national grid for national distribution. Abia state for example now generates power in Aba and power is distributed strictly within Aba environs. State Police is another issue Mr. President has pushed for relentlessly since 2023. Despite the opposition from Fulani people like El-Rufai for obvious reasons, the president has not relented in pushing for revolution of policing powers to the state. Finally, we all know the president that has done so well in pushing huge allocations to state governments. No president in history has supported states and local governments in terms of funding like the Tinubu administration. So, what’s all the lie all about Mr. Nasir El-Rufai? Is it now a crime for a president of southern origin to serve for two terms in peace? |

El-Rufai should grow up! It’s not a time for baseless accusation. His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) is a front runner in the struggle and quest for democracy and would be the last to do such. |

I thought it was just politics before. I think El Rufai needs treatment. You can't mix with deveropers and not have your brain affected. |

Yakubu Dogara speaks below in contrast to the scaremongering, doom and gloom rants of the born-to-rule Northern supremacists and hegemonists like Atiku, El Rufai, Ndume, Malami Tambuwal, Sule Lamido etal. Knowledge-seeking folks should read the thoughts of one of the Most progressive Northerner in Nigerian politics, i.e Yakubu Dogara's, on Tinubu leadership and Reforms so far. We should bear in mind that while the entire North ranted against tax reforms ignorantly, Dogoara was first prominent Northern leader to demand a copy of the bills, read them exhaustively and then swung behind them to the extent of even being an eloquent advocate of their great benefits. We know those, enemies of Nigeria's progress, who will listen to El Rufai and co to automatically agree with anything and everything they allege against Tinubu. Same as we know the Nigerians, i.e those genuinely seeking progress for Nigeria, who will inspect Dogara's talk to note the factual and logical conclusions he delivers. The man is so well-read per the current tax reforms, he now delivers lectures on them. Amazing. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/tinubu-will-end-up-as-nigerias-economic-reformer-dogara/%3famp Tinubu will end up as Nigeria’s economic reformer – Dogara

seunmsg:seunsmg, It's not scare mongering when there's a clear pattern. In 2023, Tinubu didn't just accidentally pick a Muslim-Muslim ticket he deliberately ignored Nigeria’s delicate religious balance for selfish political gain. Let’s not forget his campaign’s shameful low point: hiring fake pastors and clergymen to falsely endorse that same faith ticket. If that isn’t religious manipulation, what is? And as for this 'president for life' concern, open your eyes. Tinubu has been ruling Lagos by proxy since he left office in 2007, installing and removing governors like they're his personal assistants. If he could maintain a grip on a state like Lagos for nearly two decades, why should anyone doubt that he has similar plans for Nigeria? This time, he might rule for life and not by proxy. As for the bold, nobody said it’s a crime, but since you're suddenly concerned about a southern president serving two terms in peace, maybe ask Tinubu why he actively contributed to cutting short that exact opportunity in 2015. Goodluck Jonathan, a southern president, was on track for a second term yet Tinubu a fellow southerner chose to ally with others to bring him down. So before you play the 'southern loyalty' card, be honest enough to call out the role Tinubu played in sabotaging the very thing you’re now pretending to defend. You can dismiss the warnings as fear tactics, but history and Tinubu’s own track record speak louder than propaganda. |

seunmsg:Well-said. We know those who want Nigeria to remain backwards. Dogara puts it eloquently below, as a Progressive Northerner seeking the best for Nigeria, addressing issues precisely and factually. He cites precise figure and historically correct event as a leader respectful of the intelligence of Nigeria. El Rufai and co should take example from Dogara's conduct and talk yet I believe that is impossible because the case is that him and his ilk think they are addressing a moronic, illiterate and unsophisticated populace in totality. https://punchng.com/tinubu-will-end-up-as-nigerias-economic-reformer-dogara/

The signs are indeed there for the discerning. The infiltration of all political parties, the capture of the legislative and judiciary arm and the hounding of all opposition figures. Tinubu is already ruling Nigeria like a monarch without recourse to due process and rule of law. Yesterday, he took a knee-jerk decision appointing all 4 children of the deceased Head of Service into government positions. Thankfully we will never find out because Nigerians will vote out Tinubu come 2027. |

If we consider that Lagos state is still ruled by same person since 1999, we can but agree with what he said. |

One week, one rubbish. This short bigot should stop spewing rubbish. Nobody can rule for 3 terms in Nigeria. There is a difference between Nigeria and Cameron. |

TradeSunMoore:When Elrufai came out publicly to tell you that the government was paying bandits and negotiating with them, you denied until it became visible to the blind. Here you are again denying patterns that are audible to the deaf. Do you think someone of Elrufai's calibre will just throw allegations around publicly without facts? He has a law degree from Harvard and he has dared you all to sue him. Thankfully, we will never know because Tinubu won't get re-elected, even for second term. |

Tinubu doesn't roll directly like that , he would look for a puppet and plant in that seat and continue his third term just like what's happening in Kogi |

AMINDA:You are only angry because the children of the former head of service of FCT are not Fulanis. If they were Fulanis, I can bet you won’t be here making an issue out of such an empathic gesture. Again, it’s time to tell folks like you and El-Rufai that this country doesn’t belong to the Fulanis. This country belongs to all Nigerians and all of us will benefit from the country. The rest of us reasonable Nigerians from north and south will ensure Tinubu is re-elected and hegemonists like Atiku and El-Rufai are retired to political obscurity after 2027. |

seunmsg:Who do you think you're fooling with all the unity begging? The country belongs to all of us but Tinubu has cornered all appointments and projects to Lagos, not even the entire Southwest. Nevermind the Fulanis, list out the proportion of appointments and projects that Tinubu has given to the Southsouth and Southeast to reflect Southern Solidarity. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop. Who is more hegemonic than a man that ruled Lagos 20 years ago and has refused to let go? A shocker await you all come 2027. With a chokehold on Lagos, a daughter as Iyaloja-general and a son with all advertising rights in Lagos, Tinubu still believes Nigeria owes himself and his wife (an ex-senator) a lot. What manner of greed!
