There's no issue in countering terrorism but on a legal and political standpoint, the US doesn't have any legal right to forcefully claim any part of a country's territory. Also, the US doesn't have the locus standi to unilaterally combat world's terrorism especially in far away Asian continent, such has to be done within the confine and collective agreement of the UN Security Council.

Afghanistan should pay US back the money they used to build the airbase and then they can keep it, that's the most honorable thing to do to stop future strike by the US
