The people who had gone to stay illegally and seeking asylum are the reason, They are ruining chances of genuine visitors, elderly people used to get visa without much scrutiny, now its equally tough for them, many USA visa holders are getting refused now because of our brothers who had gone earlier, The so called Canada is bleeding, Economy is in shambles, No jobs, Housing problems. They dont need visa Asylum seekers, Thats why its getting difficult by the day, Many genuine visitors are been turn back and refused visa. Very Sad

Ever since then, I don't even know what my application status is. I've asked him and he said they'll send me an email if the Visa is approved but when the biometric email came, I wasn't the one that received it. He just forwarded everything to me to print out.
So is it possible for me to receive email when through out the application process I didn't receive any emails directly?

I think he has scammed you.Why don’t he give you the username and password to track your application.

You must have been denied or something which he doesn’t want to tell you. You should request for your GCMS notes if you have your application number and UCI number with you but if not, then hold his neck

I raised a webform and filled in the form which i also indicated that i don't have my application number. I filled out my UCI number, names, passport number and email address and this is the reply i got from them.

Hello guys, i noticed that Lagos Immigration office seems to be handling most applications now. Processing time is still 31days though. I don't know what this means or translates to for visa applicants though it seems many have stopped applying at this time probably due to the high refusal rates.

A visitor visa (Temporary Resident Visa – TRV) does not allow you to stay permanently in Canada. It’s only for temporary visits (tourism, visiting family/friends, short business, etc.). Even if your Canadian friend/citizen sends you an invitation letter and sponsors your trip, it will not make you a permanent resident

If you want to stay permanently a visitor visa is not the right pathway. Instead, you need to look at Express Entry, PNP, study permit, or work permit routes.

Paying huge money for a visitor visa you don’t even qualify for.

I’ve seen the craziest cases.

I agree with you 100%. A visa ban or a Temporary Removal Order (what they give someone the moment they claim asylum) is no joke.

The average Nigerian doesn’t understand the gravity of what they’re getting into.

It’s like having a criminal record and still trying to get a job in the Western world.

A visa ban or a Temporary Removal Order is extra wahala for any future visa application. No matter how long ago it was or if it has “passed,” you will always have to declare it on applications to other countries.

I aooloed for TRV in May 2025 and submitted my passport yesterday at VFS Abuja as instructed by the Canadian Authorities.

After dropping off, I got an email/SMS which said:
" The envelope for the decision on the results of your visa that has been processed has been received at the Canadian Visa Application Center at Lagos OC on the date. We will then send this to the Canadian Visa Application Center Lagos OC Your decision envelope will be returned to you via the courier service offered by the VAC. Collection of decision envelopes in-person at the VAC is not permitted until further notice. Please refer to the 'Buy Services' page of the VAC website for further information on courier services offered by the VAC"

My office is a few minutes walk from the VAC, so Courier is just a waste of resources in this instance. I told the VAC Staff when they asked if I wanted Courier and they smiled.

Pls what can I do?

nothing to do Just wait and track your application online from time to time

After biometrics → background checks → either PPR (approval) or refusal letter

they have rejected you and he doesn't want to tell you. Hope he is not with your passport and the money you pay am no many

have you sent a webform? if yes, what was the response? have you tried calling ircc, if yes, what was the response. if no progress with all the above, involve an immigration officer

Have you requested a GCMS note? do you have your UCI number and your application number if yes then request for a GCMS note using your email and that will tell you in detail what is going on with your application .

Simple apply for your GCMS note if you have your application number and your UCI number .
