Most Nigerians will be paying heavy taxes, yet no one is negotiating how the quality of life should be improved. No one is asking where the money will be channelled to. No one is talking about better hospitals, schools, electricity, better roads. No one is worried that we will be giving our hard earned money to govt which could be looted to acquire homes in florida. Am I really overthinking this? How come we are all fine with this? Shouldn't Nigerians start a trend to question where the money is going to? |

richmond500:You want them to call you Igbo, IPOB, Obidients, election losers, children of hate abi? They have succeeded in gaslighting Nigerians using those names mentioned above, when we were speaking out, people like you either joined them or kept quiet watch them do the gaslighting. Same reason Igbos avoided the protest, so what do you want us to do ? If you people are doing anything just remove Igbos from your nonsense... |

richmond500:Yes now, because if you smart enough you will know the origin of the problem you are about to protest about, as long as you keep ignoring the origin of that problem, you people will keep going in circles, from one failed protest to another... You people think you can ignore the root cause and fix the problem from the surface. Ire o |

The op is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea On one hand he supports tilumbu and his APC who have designed the disastrous Tax Reforms to take shape next year On the other hand he absolutely abhors Wike whom he says disenfranchised him and his people during the last presidential election Oh what a quagmire indeed 😒 |

richmond500:Yes first statement is false, with the emphasis on "most", and thus invalidates your point that Nigerians should demand better quality of life. They should demand that anyway and beginning from the LG Chairman upward. Yet this thread is mischievous because you seem to be instigating Nigerian to agitate and protest against government over use of "taxes" they are not playing in the first place since the threshold for paying tax, as a worker, begins from 800k per annum upwards moved from the 300k per annum it was before tax reforms. It is wrong to peddle inaccurate information against Government initiatives. Especially those that are actually beneficial to "most" Nigerians. Tax reforms seeks to lift tax burden from majority of Nigerians and that is a factual reality of PBAT's tax reforms that is confirmed beyond the noise of scaremongers and anti-government mischief-makers delivered to feed into the fear and ignorance of gullible Nigerian and the predisposition of those who hate the PBAT government to only wish to see bad in everything it does. The main purpose of Tax reforms is to aid efficient and compulsory collection of tax from businesses and higher income earners who traditionally avoid paying tax because of lax and inefficient tax collection that has never allowed taxes to be collected efficiently from those who can afford to pay and should pay taxes. |

WizardOfNG:After all the long epistle, you still fail to understand what the tax law aim to achieve. There are lots of Nigerians making above 100k monthly that aren't paying tax, now all of them will pay, no short cut, this validates my point that most will be paying the tax. Now let's go to the part where u accused me of trying to set the people against the govt, seriously? Because I asked how the taxed should be used to better our lives means I am setting the masses against the govt? Not every one is comfortable driving through potholes, if u are comfortable with it, then so be it |

richmond500:I told you they will come for you... That's part of what I'm talking about, there is a bigger problem than the tax itself |
| Re: New Tax Law: Why Isn't Nigerians Demanding Better Quality Of Life? by WizardOfNG: 8:36pm On Sep 22, 2025 |
richmond500:You're confusing yourself. 100k a month or 1.2m a year, you must pay tax under the old tax regime , with 300k per annum threshold, and under new tax reforms act with 800k per annum threshold. . Most low Income earners, which is a significant amount of Nigerians, are better off under the new tax reforms. Stop peddling misinformation because of your own ignorance. Read the AFP fact check exposé beloq against misinformation peddled by your ilk to note you need to go and familiarise yourself thoroughly with the provisions of the tax reform act before speaking publicly on them. https://factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com.73784WE After that read article below, to note those who will be greatest beneficiary of the new tax reforms to note it is "most" Nigerians. I have provided an excerpt but read the full article and stop the ignorant talk. There are loads of videos on YouTube also where tax experts explain the benefit of the tax reform act on households, specially low income households that is the majority in Nigeria. There are literally hundreds of those video. Get educated and stop leading the blind with one eye. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/articles/czdvnmz0j9go.amp What difference will they make? |

Brendaniel:Someone is peddling ignorant drivel and you claim they "will come for him". Must we all be backwards, unexposed and ignorant? How is correcting misinformation an attack against anyone? We should reject progressive development for Nigeria, that factually leaves most Nigerian household better off, to please ignorant naysayers and avowed enemies of the government determined to never see good in what it does and even ready to use lies and propaganda to fool the largely ignorant Nigerian populace? Why don't you inspect what tax experts, unconnected with the Nigerian government, are saying? Or you and OP wish to claim you know more than them? In fact listen to Taiwo Oyedele, who led the committee of technocrats that drafted the tax reform bills, explain the provisions of the new tax reforms act He specifically mplorwd Nigerians to read the act thoroughly to avoid poor understanding which, according to him, is leading to a lot of misinformation currently. He is clearly frustrated that they are explaining the new tax reforms act to Nigerians copiously and exhaustively and showing factually it is beneficial yet ignorant Nigerians, who have not read the tax reform at all, continue to insist otherwise. Read the comments also to note a lot of Nigerians are intelligent and progressive unlike many Nairalanders who always automatically double down on insisting all that Government does is bad, unhelpful and punitive to Nigerians. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT8HMUaI9_s?si=ertZdrsMj8mCvxqA |

WizardOfNG:You are still finding it difficult to understand what the tax plan to achieve, Most Nigerians will be better off under the old tax law than the new one. More than half of Nigerians were not paying tax, but right now almost everyone will pay. I was not paying tax but now I must pay |

WizardOfNG:richmond500, you see what I have been trying to make you realize There is a bigger problem, Igbos have see this thing a looong time ago, this injustice was what led to the war, Igbos wanted out, sadly Igbos lost the war and were forcefully dragged back inside and have to keep dealing with the issue as they can. richmond500 what you are up against is not just the tax, it's an ideology, and ideologies sometimes are one of the hardest things to fight. Once you try to do the right thing they come for you not because you are wrong but they will rather protect and support that ideology than admit you are right. |

Brendaniel:This is proof you are here for mischief. You are quoted directly only to fail to respond directly as is normal. Instead you begin calling witnesses as if you are in a fight and need others to take your side and gang-up with you against a perceived common enemy. Can you stand alone and on your own strenght/argument as a man? Mscheew. |

WizardOfNG:I feel I don't need to reply you because I know what I'm up against, it goes beyond the tax issue, it is more of an ideology, it is like trying to convince those who killed Deborah that what they did was wrong, they won't agree because the ideology they carry overrules moral judgement, logic, sympathy and humanity in their decision making. Why do i say so? The very same Tinubu you are supporting to do all these subsidy removal and tax policies fought OBJ and GEJ for doing the same thing with his supporters like you and demonized them as wicked and heartless leaders, but today he is even doing worse than them but he is being praised by both himself and his supporters like you.... Why then do you want me to engage you in a discussion that looks more of an ideological defense than the tax itself? |
