That is irony of life. Who would have taught after series of ravaging injuries and mbappe was already a phenomenon with both club and country. Just one great season, he just won it but mbappe of series of performance couldn't achieve it.

All the nominees from the 30- man shortlist have their performance and contributions to their teams considered in arriving at the final decision of who is the most deserving of the award, and Dembele polled the highest VOTES . pretty sure many journalist opted for Hakimi , Donnaruma et al ahead of the winner., but he got the most accumulated votes more than them for a reason , and the reasons are obvious . Mbappe will not win except he wins the world cup or champion league alongside la Liga. Same goes for yamal and any other players. If let say Portugal wins the world cup and their players win any other major trophy, players like vintinha, neves, Nunes, even Ronaldo will have a shot at winning it.

Most likely the way Barca is goin, am tipping them to go far in la Liga and champion league. Real Madrid are a long long shot from it. And I don't think they will go far in champion league.
They will also struggle to win la liga. All this due to internal issues with their star players most especially the Brazilians in that squad.

I see most people mocking Mbappe for not winning the award yet the person being celebrated was a 'Barcelona reject'....
