The Southern Range of Crime Branch has struck a significant blow to narcotics syndicates with the arrest of two accused, including a foreign national, and the seizure of 202 grams of high-quality MDMA (Ecstasy) valued at more than ₹2 crore, along with psychotropic injections and syringes.

The Operation

A special team comprising Insp. Ram Pratap, SI Anurag
Tyagi, ASI Vijumon, HC Arvind, HC Sanjay, HC Sonveer, HC Vipin, HC Manender, HC Charan, W/Ct Renu, and W/Ct Shobha, led by Inspector Vijay Pal Dahiya and under the overall supervision of ACP Girish Kaushik, was tasked to track drug suppliers active in South and South-East Delhi.

On the intervening night of 17/18 September 2025, the team intercepted a suspicious car with tinted glasses near Chirag Delhi around 12:10 AM. On searching the vehicle, the team recovered 196 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), four injections, and eight syringes. The contraband was confirmed as psychotropic substance by FSL experts, and accused Akash Kashyap @ AK @ Yo, resident of Govindpuri was arrested.

The Accused
Akash Kashyap is a habitual offender with previous
involvement in four criminal cases, including one under the Arms Act. He confessed to sourcing narcotics from a Nigerian national named Chime and supplying them to customers in Delhi. He was
produced before court, and police custody remand was obtained for further investigation.

Acting on leads, police arrested Chime Sabastine, a Nigerian national who had attempted to flee by jumping from his balcony, sustaining a leg fracture. After being treated at Safdarjung Hospital and declared fit, he was arrested. Chime revealed that he
had entered India on a medical visa in April 2024 (valid till August 2024) and had been overstaying illegally. He admitted to being a habitual drug consumer who began peddling to meet expenses and identified another Nigerian national as his supplier.

The Breakthrough
With these arrests, the Crime Branch has successfully disrupted a high-value narcotics supply chain. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other members of this syndicate.
