ntyce:The same traffic that had been on forever before Dangote trucks started rolling in around 1am. And the Dangote trucks were not even the issue but the trailers and other tankers who were driving wrecklesly , the Dangote drivers were all on one land and they were very well behaved. I left my office at Ikoyi at10pm and I arrived my Nicon Town Residence at 2am last night. Sir in your hate for Dangote be truthful. |

Esthered:The Dangote trucks rolled in from about 12:30am. That traffic had been there all day, so how is it the Dangote trucks that caused the traffic? |

SmartPolician:FG should develop other cities? What should the governor then do? What should LGA do? You think if most of the Governors actually do their work bring in investors that would bring in jobs and release funds to the LGA's people would want to leave and come to the city? The FG is not independently meant to develop the whole of Nigeria that's why we have Governors but most of them don't even stay in their states you would always find them in Abuja. |

EchoEnigma:Oga, Lagos, Abuja and PH are the most properous parts of the country today because the federal government invested in those places more than other parts of the country. Development is a collective endeavour. How much do governors get compared to what the FG get? Just before you reply to this message, make sure you know the revenue sharing formula of your country. |

SmartPolician:Kundus to the Lagos state government, what are other state Governors doing in their states? The state Governors get allocations. If Lagos state government had not put in the work over the years, everybody will not be rushing into the city. I still feel LASG need to stop inflow of those developers into Lagos. The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway is JUST ONE of federal government's projects to develop other parts of Nigeria especially the coastal states. Electricity has improved tremendously unless you want to be dishonest. |

NOETHNICITY:I see sarcasm there, but I don't bother. I'd still respond to you. If Nigeria had a stash of $100 billion in sovereign wealth, why would I criticise if such a road is conceived. If they like it can be fully underwater. But here we are today, the road from Lagos through the East West road is terrible, why start a new one? The south south needs the completion and perhaps an upgrade of the EW road than a new coastal road that would take till eternity to complete. The completion won't cost more than $2billion. This is all about prioritisation. |

soullove1881:not everything or opinion is from opposition. Let me use myself for instance, no federal road in Edo State is motorable, the bypass is even worse. Instead of hearing that the federal govt has awarded the contracts to do them, I suddenly hear the FG has borrowed money to do a coastal road, how will you expect me to respond to such news? Even when it is a good project, when there are lots of abandoned and dilapidated old roads all over the country not receiving any attention, especially my state? We should learn to be objective, not everything is opposition or political. |

Glitcher:what is the cost of a kilometre of road in nigeria? Lagos-Calabar Highway Costs 7 times more per km than Pan-African Cairo-Cape town route. 1. Nigeria’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a 700 km highway. Budget: $11–13 billion 2. Cairo-Cape Town Highway, a 10,228 km Cairo-Cape Town Highway Budget: $1.65 billion |

SmartPolician:You should cover your face bro. After criticizing coastal road. This is what you have to say. So other state don't have a governor with thinking cap when Lagos completed two metro and they left theirs at MoU stage, the other one siphon state tax payers money through monorail when his successor continue siphoning through properties abroad |
| Re: Lekki Traffic: Lagosians Criticise Government For Not Opening The Coastal Road by SmartPolician: 9:45am On Sep 24, 2025 |
tollyboy5:Yes, I criticised it and argued that the money be invested in power, but what did my criticism change? Did my criticism stop Escobar from building it? Now that Escobar has built it, does it mean that people shouldn't use it? I didn't even say I used it and one l@ptop boy is already on my case. As for the nonsense you wrote about, that's not the topic here. The discussion is about the Coastal road which is clearly a federal project. |

overall90:Each time East West road comes into discussion, it always brings to fore the gross ineptitude, crass naivity and what not of GEJ and his administration. People should always lay the blame at his feet. What would the completion of the road has cost him? Of course, he was ....... In this same country, Buhari attempted to build a train to Niger Republic, na only online noise people make and nothing happened. Even with a Rivers man as Minister of Transport. #blameGEJ |

SmartPolician:It will be nonsense to you because that is how people fail to hold their government responsible in their various state. Coastal road is from Lagos to Calabar but you're talking about federal government developing other state. Does Lagos Map extends to Calabar on your own geography? So jealous about Lagos that you have to input that unnecessary nonsense. So I had to remind you how other governors killed development on their state. When I tag sanwo on X, days later I see government talking about what I tagged them on. Can others say the same for their governors? Stop the jealous statement about Lagos. State government developed Lagos mostly, and we the natives are not happy with congestion. |

oz4real83:The thing is people don't learn to survive in this country. That is why Ogun State has tremendous bad road unlike Lagos State. When Lagos State is lobby to repair federal roads that are critical to economic activities of the state. Other state were there waiting for federal government to fix the road. Other states like Ogun State. |

naptu2:@naptu2 First off, I absolutely wish you a quick recovery from your recent operation which I only just read about today. Second, that's a brilliant update from you on the timeline or sequence of events (traffic jams and heavy flooding) within parts of Victoria Island and parts of the Lekki Peninsula. Indeed, it's BETTER for folks to stay indoors and monitor the weather updates which are now quite accurate globally in forecasting heavy rains, hurricanes and more due to advancements in satellite technologies. Aside from the heavy rains in Lagos, Ogun, and more due to climate change (including the ongoing night construction work and flooding on the Lekki-Epe Expressway), a major part of the problem I'm getting from convos with some of my fam and folks in those two locations is that the "existing drainage system" on the Lekki-Epe Expressway is blocked with silt and would require desilting and total removal. So, the Commissioner, 'Tokunbo Wahab and his team will have to URGENTLY do something in that area. Wahab's team has done well in the CLEARING of the existing canals in Lagos State but more has to be done in desilting and opening up those drainages which a lot of relatively new migrants to Lagos State don't even know exists. It's indeed important to do all construction work at NIGHT like Lagos State had already intended so that these lemmings and narcissists who claimed in the past that the iconic Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge by Babatunde Raji-Fashola was a waste of resources, and that the long-awaited iconic Federal Government construction project named Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway isn't important, do NOT use this grid-lock as an excuse to spread further disinformation online among gullible people. |

SmartPolician:I don't know if Seun or Fergie can move this comment to the joke section. Abuja is the capital and completely receive federal government funding. Besides no state in Nigeria is developed. Porth Harcourt is just a state with potential soaked in massive corruption. Lagos State, Enugu State and some few other state are the only working state in Nigeria. |
| Re: Lekki Traffic: Lagosians Criticise Government For Not Opening The Coastal Road by EchoEnigma: 10:14am On Sep 24, 2025 |
SmartPolician:No, I disagree. The state governors have to promote meaningful and incremental development from rural areas to state capitals, they need to shift their focus from large, flashy projects to a bottom-up, decentralized approach that empowers and adequately funds local governments. The key isn't necessarily more money, but better management and a change in strategy. And this should start by first granting full financial and political autonomy to LGAs. Also the state governors can introduce micro credit schemes and grant programmes specifically for small businesses and cooperatives in rural areas. There should be incremental development that would benefit the citizens at the grassroots level making rural areas viable places to live, work and thrive this would lay a ground work for a more balanced and equitable state economy. But what they do instead is share money so that they can win the next election and have a control of the political field for years |

naptu2:NOW they are gradually getting to realize the importance of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway after the insidious criticisms. This Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway construction project unknown to a lot of younger people had been proposed since the former President Shehu Shagari years in the early 1980s, BUT the current Nigerian President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu took the bull by the horns to start it. If construction hadn't started, construction costs would have gone up again due to the below sea-level terrain from Lagos to Calabar. @Naptu2, the highly impressive update as of today from the videos I've seen in my YouTube timeline is that construction work has already started on the Lagos International Airport (MMIA) with the foundations of the entry and exit bridge interchange of MMIA being laid out. The total reconstruction of that airport from 2025 is the BEST thing to happen since it was FIRST opened for use in 1979 (46 years ago). The same relentless critics of the MMIA reconstruction would be the first to start using the new airport background to take selfies and videos just like they began taking selfies and featuring the iconic Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge in home videos, documentaries, and adverts after unjustly and irritatingly criticizing former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji-Fashola for the bridge construction. I've learned for years now that with these insidious groups of people, the BEST thing is to be very firm in your resolve to bring positive societal development and proceed with your major construction projects regardless of the naysayers BECAUSE their real intention is to distract and derail those who are actively involved in the different tiers of governance at the Federal, State and LGA levels. |
