Economy: Nigeria Up, Argentina Collapsing by DeLaRue(op):
While Mr Tinubu's administration has successfully stabilised Nigeria's economy and the roll off of positive economic news is now a weekly, and in some cases, daily event, Argentina's economy is collapsing, the same Argentina that Mr Atiku was citing as an example of economic reforms and progress less than a year ago.

I also remember several of Mr Obi's supporters hailing the Argentinian president Mr Millie and holding him as an example of a 'good' leader, while casting Mr Tinubu as a terrible and failing one.

Argentina's economy, particularly its currency, is collapsing. Trump's America was forced to rush out news early on Monday announcing that the USA would help and support Argentina with billions of dollars to stabilise the Argentinian currency, the peso, which has more or less collapsed in the past 2 weeks.

How the tides have turned.

Nigeria and Argentina were more or less facing the same challenges as of last year, but while Nigeria has turned its economy around, Argentina's is falling into the abyss despite Mr Millies borrowing over $40 billion dollars in less than 2 years to support the Argentinian peso, yet the currency has failed.

I will continue to rate Mr Tinubu as the best President Nigeria has had since its independence, 65 years ago. Full stop.

The man literally saved us from economic armageddon from which no other country would have come to save us.

Nigerian GDP went from 375 billion dollars to just over 200 billion today since 2023

Argentina GDP went from 646 billion in 2023 to 669 billion dollars in 2025

And a human being with sense thinks Nigeria is doing better than Argentinahuh

Some of you are funny ooh

Argentina borrowed 44 billion dollars and their GDP have grown by same amount

Tinubu borrowed over 15 billion dollars and our GDP dropped by 200 plus billion ...

Of Argentina rebase their GDP they would be a trillion dollars economy

Why were you celebrating Milei and Argentina back then.

So this news is what you based your opinion on?

Yes Argentina needs rescue because their GDP have only gone from 645 billion to 669 billion in 2 years even without rebase ... That's bad

But what would you say of a nation that have it's GDP go from 375 billion to 180 billion to 230 billion after rebase.... Collapsed?

Thank PDP, gej and Dangote for making sure Nigeria has a functional refinery that is gradually stabilizing naira while Tinubu and APC are busy destroying our economy stealing everything at sight and suffering the masses .

Wike looting our Treasury and others doing same in same APC

The reason Nigeria's GDP dropped significantly in 2023 while Argentina's only saw a mild increase—despite both facing the same challenges—is the same reason Nigeria's macroeconomic indicators are now performing much better than Argentina's.

The only thing Tinubu ‘stabilized’ is the collapse he orchestrated himself. Nigeria’s economy didn’t just stumble, it was shoved off a cliff by reckless, calamitous, poorly timed policies with no safety net. Comparing GDP trends while ignoring context is just intellectual laziness. Argentina may be struggling, but at least their leaders didn’t light the economy on fire and then take credit for putting out the smoke. Nigeria's improving indicators are like applauding a doctor for stabilizing a patient after nearly killing them with the wrong diagnosis.

I always knew Argentina will fail. It was obvious from the start. There are certain steps a leader will take that you'll just know that he is not well-equipped to strengthen the economy.

As for the obidients, don't mind them, they don't like good news. They want this country to fail so that they'll feel better about themselves.

Naira is stable, 4% GDP growth, prices of foodstuffs has reduced significantly, our reserves is growing. With all of these and the increased IGR coming by next year, I know that our worst days are behind us.

But then you cannot trust our politicians.
Re: Economy: Nigeria Up, Argentina Collapsing by SarkinYarki: 12:15pm On Sep 24, 2025
The major problem with supporters of Tinubu is that they are not sound ...If you look carefully at the data you will realize Nigeria economy has already failed ..now let's compare data and see who is performing.

Nigeria GDP when Tinubu entered - $380bn

Nigeria GDP today - $180 bn

Nigeria GDP per Capita today - $800

Argentina GDP when Mile entered - 580bn

Argentina GDP today - $633bn

Argentina GDP per Capita - 13,000 dollars

Nigeria life expectancy - 47 years

Argentina life expectancy - 81 years

Nigeria inflation rate - 33.9 percent

Argentina inflation rate .33.3 percent

Please we need to stop fooling ourselves , Nigeria is far worse off than Argentina

Using your context, it's that collapse that Milei avoided in 2023 that's causing the instability in Argentina now. If only he had the courage to do what was done in Nigeria, he wouldn't be in this situation. Now he can't reverse his policies because of the cost implications, and elections are around the corner.

Where is Buhari in all of these . The Buhari that actually made this happen . You left Buhari and started mouthing off those locusts .
If not for Buhari, Dangote’s refinery would have remained on drawing board like the 2nd Niger bridge 😂😂
Tinubu is used to this kind of rough of terrain . He is merely draining the swamps .
The real magic would happen during Ribadu’s tenure in 2031 when the gains of Tinubu’s brave economic reforms and interventions would manifest .
This is akin to how Fashola reaped the massive gains of Tinubu’s wizardry in Lagos

The CBN has just announced an interest rate cut for the first time since 2020, on the back of yet another fall in inflation.

The inflation rate in Nigeria stood at 20.12% in August 2025, down from 21.68% in July 2025, according to figures released on Monday, September 15 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), representing a decrease of 1.76% between July and August 2025. This downward trend has been confirmed for the fifth consecutive month
