You are a young man of mid to late 20's.. you are at work with your other officials... Alarm bell rang out loud about a supposed fire outbreak...

In panick u ran to the stairs only to find so many fellow building dwellers rushing up the steps going up... They say don't try it that thick big smoke is coming after them...

U went back to your office floor opened the escape window and saw crowds of ppl downstairs shouting fire and organizing bed to jump down onto..

In a very frantic panic and oncoming thick black smoke, and with crowds downstairs willing to do anything to help but without any crane or mechanized equipment...you are at the 5th floor.

How do u get out from there..

I still believe I will never die of the fumes nor fire, and I bliv with all due respect those 20+ guyz that died there ,they are very dull...

Say a step by step practical way u will escape this scenerio...

I will reply first two pages of comments up

I don't think this picture enough. Are their materials inside the building that can be used to form a rope?

Secondly, not every man has same physique.

A slim or average build guy definitely has more chances of attempting to do something fantastic than an overweight dude.

One thing I know about myself is fire will definitely not kill me in that building. I can't state a practical way but my instinct and my athlectism will definitely play a big role for my survival.

Yes, I will ask those questions. Same way footballers make decisions in seconds. Questions and answers can be processed in seconds.

Say it no more. Humans including Usain Bolt stand very little chance against fire, water and wind in action.
May God not let us see our death staring us in our faces while we can do little.

Climb the service stairs all the way to the roof and wait for fire service, the roof will always have fresh air and will be the last place to be engulfed therefore buying me a lot of time to get help or figure out other action plan..also cell service will be sharper on the roof so I can also sue my phone to contact loved ones while will figure out evac plans

First of all, you need to be proactive.

Secondly, you can obtain a rope, commonly referred to as a “fetcher rope,” which is used for drawing water in the Southeastern region, particularly in Enugu State.

Make sure that the rope you acquire is long enough to reach the ground floor. Store it safely in your office, either in a cupboard or another location that is accessible only to you, so it is handy when needed.

Finally, in the unlikely event that an emergency occurs, securely tie one end of the rope to a strong point near the window. Ensure it is firmly bound, then release the other end down to the ground floor. Additionally, when purchasing the rope, be sure to buy a quality pair of gloves that will protect your hands and prevent any skin irritation or peeling while handling the rope. Wear the gloves when lowering yourself with the rope from the window. That's all you need to do.

This line alone in the op made me understand he/she has never ever been in a fire before.

Even common generator monoxide smoke can kill a family within 30 mins talk more of actual carbon dioxide from a live raging fire 🔥

See op, forget James Bond. If fire meet you at last angle ehn . . . Even before the fire reaches you, you've already stopped being able to breathe angry

Something that can actually BURN YOUR LUNGS worse than a 20 year long cigarette smokers own? 🧐

Dude, forget about my own and talk about yours. Athlectism is not all about running 100km.
One can run 100km and still be afraid of heights.

Few months ago, my younger sister screamed while cooking in the kitchen. The gas stuff is already on fire. I used my hands and carried the stuff. I initially wanted to throw the thing down from 2 storey building but I ran down with it and dumped it inside the gutter.

Why didn't many of those in the building run to the roof top? That's an open area for safety purposes

I don't think the op was asking for the most powerful prayer to say when fire occurs.

It is always easy to ask these questions in retrospect. Because of the possibility of the entire building being engulfed in fire, your first instinct will be to leave the building.

It would be nice to hear what survivors have to say about the entire ordeal

I do not know why a building of this magnitude would not have the following.
- FM 200 fire suppression system or more modern Novec 1230 in the inverter room and all IT rooms
- Fire sprinkler system across all floors
- Exit or fire escape stairs or route
- Alarm system for immediate evacuation.
If these were there, then safety team were useless

Run to the roof top or open your window, climb over and stay there outside the window. Don't jump down and don't panic

And fire doors than can contain a fire within an enclosed area for a certain amount of time to give the occupants of the building enough time to evacuate after hearing the fire alarm! I’m assuming this building Elumelu built DOES have a working fire alarm system!?

Firstly the fire will surely be a class A Fire ... which are mostly combustible material ... if I can get all the glass windows in anyone of the office broken, I mean if there are 10 windows I must break all then close entrance door against the fire ... breaking of the glasses will not allow the smoke to build up it will always escape while I go low on the flow because hot gasses flow up.... then wait till rescue come in

I don't know if there are fire horses on the floors of the house.
The fire reels are good escape accessory for fire escape but my doubt is if the occupants are given adequate fire awareness training to know what to do in event of.
The fire hose can be unreeled and be used to climb down to the floor below.
The down side is that if the occupants are not adequately trained they will panic and want to climb onto the fire hose all at once.
