This is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria in the last 50years. An advanced nation is a skilled nation but here, we have deliberately allowed our technical schools rot away. What we have is people who do anything to get a certificate as though, certificate is everything just because the standards had been set so low. A lot of so called graduates are unemployable who could have been better fit acquiring skills in technical education were pushed into studying courses that their IQ couldn't handle. There are a lot more certificated people in Nigeria rather than skilled workers who could have greatly transform many sectors of the country.
There is the fear of approving a contract of up to N2billion - N5billion to local contractors because you never know what to expect, the fear of poor quality of work. We prefer foreign contractors with better skill sets to handle majority of our projects. This gap, obviously is what had derailed us for a very long time. Thankfully, the Government has come with a deliberate effort to correct these anomalies and reset our technical institutions.

In less than a year of being appointed, Mr Alausa has been fantastic, coming up with creative ideas and technological driven innovations that would help transform all the facets of our Education and reset the system on global standards especially the priority of skill acquisitions among the youths towards a better economy. Honorable mention to Mr President for his renewed Hope Agenda.
God bless Nigeria.

The same graduates will go to polytechnic and acquire HND tomorrow. Discrimination against technical and vocational education is still paramount in Nigeria. Let the discrimination against HND be sorted out first.

The best thing that will ever happen to our educational system since independence to be honest. Quote me anywhere, if this program continues, that is if God prevents people like Obi from taking over to cancel such program, you will discover that within a decade no youth will ever near our universities again. The value of technical education in developed countries is huge. There are ready made jobs and the salaries are attractive. My fear is that 90% of the graduates from these technical vocational colleges will surely japa which will lead to brain drain. The Government needs to put a system in place to address this because it doesn't make sense to offer full scholarship including full board then the graduates will japa after training. If any graduate wants to japa after training then their parents should pay back all Government expenses. Period. Another issue is that the SW Governors especially lagos must make sure that they enroll their indigene first and stop acting like father xmas and accomodators to some hateful and ungrateful souls who will never allow such to happen in their region. Sanwo olu such take note.
Please is FCE (Technical) secondary school aka Demonstration in Asaba part of this program?

The truth of recycled propaganda from the Lagos lootocracy master planner who raised IGR and budget 80 times in 26 years but is clueless about employing enough teachers for the free education of all children?

Why are you changing APC lie lie promises to truth huh

Lanrelagboi:
Lagos has now crossed the 3 Trillion Naira annual budget mark. Crossed 2 Trillion in 2024.

Memory Lane: the first full-year Lagos State budget (Year 2000) in the 4th Republic was in the region of 40-something billion Naira. And it was described as “unprecedented” back then.

September 4, 2022

The Lagos State government has said the ratio of public to private schools at both primary and secondary school levels in the state is one to 22.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, gave the revelation in her remark at the 2022 edition of the Total School Support Seminar Exhibition (TOSSE) held at Oregun in Ikeja between Thursday and Friday.

Are these schools good? Thinking of sending my kids there!

Anyone with experience?
I attended a fstc, all federal government colleges are good, they have the best of teachers, students are properly monitored, when it is time for ssce, they don't involve in exam malpractices like some private schools, if your child is slow, he will not be promoted to the next class, my first utme about 14 years ago I had 268 (before UTME was watered down), cleared my ssce, academic confidence is what they built in me. God bless my teachers, someday I'll be back there to contribute something huge.

grin This attempt to belittle this good initiative by the fg is ridiculous statement, where do you expect the government to get money to finance it . Some of the excuses given by people against the new tax regime is that we don't know what government is doing with the money or that the money from the taxes will be misappropriated, now you see good innovative way fg will spend the money you're still not happy.

The so called sane country we always referred to where do you think they get the money in providing all those social amenities if not from taxes.

But HND IS NOT TECHNICALLY - TECHNICAL OR VOCATIONAL!
Why Bitterness against the govt initiative, which is new reel, even in USA and in China.
-For example, six months ago, there was a Graduation in US,where ALL THE GRADUATES -are asked to build a house each- given all the material-resources of -cement,blocks,water etc,to determine their technical knowledge/know how - before being allowed to the Public!
-Have we started that in Nigeria- I mean 👇:
• TEST OF GRADUATES TECHNICAL ABILITIES IN A VOLITILE WORLD 🌎!
It went viral!

..abi...it's not just for the government to announce free tuition fees and free education.. it's a matter funding the technical college school effectively..and not to starve the technical college of funds,...if the government starve them of intervention funds then the technical college staffs will start demanding and collecting money from the students inorder to run the school

Therefore, you are sad that some people will be opportuned to learn a skill that can help them become independent all because you pay a tax to the government and your tax has, in turn, been used to provide education for its citizens at no cost!

have we ever seen anything of such before in tbis country since 1999? Same qith Nelfund?
You are talking about Tax as if you are not complaining of the same tax. This is just to point to the fact that our Tax is put in good use and we should commend the government.

If I pay for a pair of shoes I should get a pair of shoes. I wouldn't be celebrating a seller that sold me the pair of shoes. The seller should be the one celebrating me. Govt is to work. They are the employee of the people. Get that
