Were they dead when these people were building? Someone in the local government council approved this for money and they should be held responsible. No one builds anywhere without some sort of clearance. And if it's illegal it should be stopped before 10% of the job is done. I know Nigerians also will want to pay for the warnings to stop. This is hard but looks like the day of reckoning. |

zero8zero:You should be ignored because you can't buy a bag of cement to know how difficult to put a structure like this. Only those who have buildings know the extent of calamity caused. Not a bystander like you who only cherishes political comments tailored against OBIdients. |

In the eyes of our Almighty God, this is wrong. I am sure approvals must have been given to build these houses because everyone knows the implications of building non-approved houses in Lagos. I pray there is no backfire to this in the future. Revenge runs deep in the heart of the aggrieved. May God just take control. |

At this rate just invest in fixed income or stock and if you must do real estate, take your money to Abuja. |

How can buildings this well-completed suddenly be "illegal"? I was expecting to see stuff like buka, aboki shed etc, but these are completed buildings being called illegal and are being demolished. That's not fair. |

These demolitions have approval of the man at Aso Rock. Otherwise, the demolitions can't happen. Example is the Lagos state House of Assembly where the Speaker,Obasa, was removed for corruption by majority House members. But he was reinstated because the man at Aso Rock was not informed before his removal. The Bourdillon landlord didn't blink an eye before he ordered his reinstatement. So, what's happening at trade fair has the approval of the man at Aso Rock. Lagos state governor is just a rubber stamp, carrying orders from powers that be. The man lost elections in 2023 in Lagos state. He didn't take it kindly. And it's the genesis of the destruction of properties perceived to be of people of southeast extraction. Nigerian federalism is at razors edge. Let's renegotiate the basis of our staying together as a nation. Too much wickedness in the polity. One thing is certain. Comeuppance will visit those who have contributed to this calamity and destruction of properties. It's their sweat and you can't destroy what they built in a jiffy. No, Almighty God is s alive to superintend over this injustice and wickedness! |

This demolition is targeted at a particular tribe to punish them for not voting for emilokan. |

This is disturbing. If the developers got approval from the Lagos state government then I think they should take the government to court. Unfortunately the justice system in Nigeria is terrible and it may take them a very long time to get justice. |

Slytiger:Why is it that it's only where Igbos are predominant that they suddenly realise (after approval and tax collection) that the structure is illegal. Igbos will have their Biafra and just like the history of the war was passed down and even the newly born feel the pain, this will also be passed down. It will be written on the sands of time. |

Ishilove:Because they don't. LASG will NEVER demolish any structure without prior notices. I have been through this enough times. What usually happens is the process was slow or someone was in a hurry. Back in the 2000s my old place did a flurry of upgrades. Our then HOD was chummy with some lasg planning ogas and we did alot of upgrades without approvals. Fast forward to the 2010s and we were upgrading again. We met with lasspa and were first slapped with fines for all our unapproved previous upgrades One project we put a structure within the setback. One year later lasbca came and told us to remove it. They literally brought a bulldozer. A lot of contractors for commercial projects will tell you how they tried to skirt rules and got into trouble. |

And they should pressure Igbo Politicians to advocate d motion: Government should allow Free & Fair Imports in d S•S Ports; IBETO, ONNE & IBOM A serious & thinking country will have long dredged up d River-Niger WaterWay, connecting it to sea... & d Onitsha RiverPort will be receiving Vessels |

When will people realize this is a regular “revenue generation racket” going on in Lagos. They approve your property for building, you start building, paying taxes at different levels of your unfinished building to different packets of agberos and revenue collecting cretins. Then once your building is completed and you’re no longer paying, another ‘government agency’ shows up to tell you your building is illegal. Wham! Your sweat and hardwork is mowed down by vile, corrupt political lackeys at the orders of their overlords. But that’s not all folks. Guess what happens to the acres of already demolished land? Of course the government waits till the tension blows over then sends another representative to resume handing out fraudulent C of O’s to intending buyers. Unfortunately people never learn and in a few months, this racket is rinsed and repeated. Don’t dare quote me to tell me about any drainage rubbish if you’ve never been to trade fair. There are multiple houses on Lagos island and agege visually leaning and pleading for demolition but we all know why the bulldozers won’t go there. |

PenpalOso:You capture everything happening in lagos. That's the reason lagos is becoming hostile and unlivable. Lagos state lives on extortion. They can't provide good , water and other basic social amenities but they will rush to demolish building. The same building that were approved by them. After building, they will demolish your properties by using flimsy excuses. Too bad! Lagos is the last place I will ever thought of building or buying a land or a property.I will never try that. Never. I don't want to hear stories that touches. |

DatNiggaDaz:Your neighbour's structures are illegal and defective, they should never have been built in the case of the former and for the latter, lives are being saved because when the buildings collapse with your neighbours inside, you will start making another outlandish claim of "these people" wanting to kpai them. Also, no mandate was stolen and even if it was, what sense does your last paragraph make? Surely it is the one whose mandate was stolen that will want to seek revenge. Finally, lots of your so called ND people and neighbours have businesses still standing in that same Lagos because they sensibly followed due process, maybe you should praise those instead of defending the ones that wanted to cut corners. Make it make sense. |
