Nigerian singer Skales recently shared insights into his modest upbringing, revealing that he and his late mother once lived in a simple hut in Kaduna.

The revelation came during an interview on A TownHall Different Podcast, where the singer recounted the early challenges he faced. He explained that life was far from easy, as they would spread mats on the floor to sleep until they eventually moved to a better quarters (BQ). Eyes Of Lagos reports,

First Encounter with a TV

Skales also spoke about his first experience with a television. Growing up in a humble household, he never had access to one until he was signed by Banky W’s record label, EME. He recalled being fascinated by the TV, amusingly switching it on and off in sheer amazement.

In His Own Words:

“I’ve been through a lot. I come from Kaduna from a poor family. My mum was a teacher. I used to live in a hut before we moved to a BQ. We would sleep on mats on the floor, and my mom would put a wrapper down for us. Coming from that situation to where I am now is crazy. Sometimes I just look at it and think, ‘that’s insane.’ I never saw a TV until EME signed me. Having my own TV in my room for the first time was a big deal.”

Thank God for you and myself because I wore no shoes or sandals to school during my primary school in Kwara state.
