Sowore's $552,000 Mansion In US by Spotlight001(op): 8:56am On Sep 26, 2025
In a buildup to the 2023 general elections, Daily Trust reported Sowore’s asset declaration to INEC in which he stated ownership of a SINGLE PROPERTY valued at ₦5 million and a 2008 Toyota Camry.

But as at that time Sowore owned a property in the US which he bought at $552,000 (about N850m now).

He did not declare this property, thereby lying on oath in his Code of Conduct asset declaration and this is a criminal offense.

Violations of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act attract severe penalties, such as asset forfeiture, and a 10-year ban from holding public office.

Lying on oath is also a criminal offense, which attracts 14 years of imprisonment.

Under the Criminal Code, Section 118 reads: "Any person convicted of perjury is liable to imprisonment for up to fourteen years."

Has Sowore ever held an elective position or had a political appointment ever in his life in Nigeria?

Why should anyone be bothered if he has a property in the USA worth $500k?

The document shows the property is in the name of two persons, the second name Opeyemi O Sowore is Sowore's wife. A property co-owned by two persons cannot be unilaterally declared by one of both parties.

Go school, study well, expand your knowledge base, you guys said no. Instead, you chose to defend politicians that steal and are looting your future.

That's the question they have refused to answer. Sowore hasn't held any public office before, so what's the fuss about? Wike's camp should come up with something substantial.

All the current APC politicians hid one or 2 assets from declaration angry it's not as if it's a hidden secret. So what will they do with this information KNOWING FULLY WELL that swore can easily uncover their own 'hidden assests' as well (he's currently doing an expose on wike)

I'm just like . . . Where will this line of attack/propaganda from APC lead to now? 🤔

Did he declare the property in his Asset declaration form? Again, it is irrelevant whether he has held a public office or not. If he wants to become president, he should declare the source of his income. Nigerians want to know where he got the money to buy the house. It could be proceed from Money Laundering so transparency at this point is very important. If there is nothing fishy, he would have declared the property and not lied on oath about it.

PS: Based on additional information, I can confirm that Sowore actually declared the house in question publicly in 2022 and this publication is diversionary and misleading.

Well, I won't play defence for any of them.

This one is about Sowore.

The others would and should be revealed.

I don’t think there’s any law that mandates candidates to declare their assets.

I only know of law that mandates “elected officials” to declare their assets.

What asset declarations form? Was he ever elected or appointed into a political position?

Which of Nigerian laws asks for candidates to declare their assets?

You can send him a direct email to find out how he acquired such property.

Op, I am sorry to disappoint you. You cannot drag Sowore because he is not a public servant and has not held any known public office in Nigeria. He is a businessman and can buy whatever he chooses so long as he can afford it. You can only hold him accountable if he were a public servant like your sponsors,

Does he own the house?
If you purchase a house with a mortgage =debt ,you do not own the house
That is how Most average law abiding Americans live, on debt. Even the cars are purchased on debt

In Nigeria some people call it instalment. When you purchase a house with a mortgage, it belongs to the bank

You cannot use that house to borrow money because it does not belong to you
The typical arrangement is 5 or 10% down payment and monthly payments for 25 years

If you default the bank repossessed the property

What would be fraudulent would be to declare what does not belong to you

As a response to the Wike allegation it is weak and Watery.

Wike is a former governor. He is not a US resident therefore would not qualify for a mortgage ordinarily.
So he paid cash . Millions!! Where did he get the money

In fact this just adds to his problems because apart from where he got the money did he declare it. His wife who is a judge. Did she declare it?

His wife has two asset declaration hurdles as a governor's wife and as a judge

More important is the question of where he got the money and did he declare that income and pay tax on it

What does

Mortgage amount mean?

It says in your screenshot $503200

What does that mean?

Did you study your own "evidence "?

It tells us that 2 people he and presumably his wife borrowed $503200 to buya house and that they put down the rest =?.?.

It should be after. And secondly, the assets declaration can be submitted or adjusted some months after swearing into office.
