That house is worth over 1m dollars. Oh boy, activist work de pay o. But then again, his wife could also have a very good job too. |

2mch:His wife has a very good job. She is the Vice President, Head of Consumer Engagement at Teladoc Health having previously led as executive at American Express, Citigroup and Delta Air Lines. She holds a BA from State University of New York at Binghamton in 1995 and an MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester in 1997. |

aribisala0:He is mentioned as an owner of the property. Cash or mortgage, does not matter. Mortgage could be near total payment completion with substantial equity. We don't know and cannot speculate. Opaque focusing on mode of payment. Several factors come into play that can easily be resolved by admission of owning said property at earliest opportunity to do so. Worth of property at time of declaring it an asset is important because the property can be sold in that tax year. A mortgage property worth 600k USD , with 20k dollars of home loan to clear, would still have a Conservative value of 550k USD in favour of owner of property and counting as an asset because it can be sold, used to draw down loans, pledged as collateral etc, etc. As a real and relevant example, I have two UK properties on a mortgages and one fully paid off. I declare all of them, including taht under joint ownership with a spouse, when completing different forms to ascertain my assets and liabilities. I would imagine this would be even a more serious requirement for a Nigerian Presidential candidate. Meaning Sowore should simply declare the property as an asset. I have personally not said anything about Wike's property assets because it is a situation I believe wise folks should comment on when clarity is determined. The mention of South Africa is valid. If some Nigerians support what appears clearly wrong, because of political partisanship then, in an age where online discusssion feature in the narrative, our detractors can claim Nigerians are unprincipled and have a casual fondness for supporting criminality from.their own and when it suits them. You won't find me robuslty defending Wike over any ongoing USA property ownership ssues because I simply cannot see enough to comment either way. For that reason, I offer no comment over the matter.

Sheuns:Oha, carry your mischief go. I did not even read beyond the bolded. Is he listed as an owner of the property or not? Simple yes or no will do because being any reasonably intelligent person will know that being joint owner is not the issue here. |

This is a classic example of "if you Sowore me, I will Wike you". Kikikiki-kakakaka!!! kiokiokio-kwakwakwa!!! Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Those who come to equity must come with clean hands. So-werey: over to you! Deny or accept your perjury! @hotseat |

seunmsg:Like 99% of Nigerians who use the term you misuse it Go back and learn the meaning of the expression he who comes to equity Hopefully you learn something you did not know before There is no smoking gun here just a weak attempt to divert attention Sowore had an issue and wrote a petition If you have an issue what is stopping you writing a petition I am referring you to the prima facies claim in the publication that gets you so exercised It tells us that two people put down $50000 on a $5520000 home to get a mortgage I do not consider that worthy of discussion by a sane human being As a response to Sowore’s petition Why not write a petition like he did |
| Re: Sowore's $552,000 Mansion In US by seunmsg(m): 11:00am On Sep 26, 2025 |
aribisala0:Truly, the entire publication is diversionary and unnecessary. I just found out that Sowore actually declared the house publicly in 2022. The OP and whoever is behind the publication is obviously mischievous. |

Sheuns:You're just clutching at straws. I don't expect anything else from you because the bolded is pure hogwash and a poor cop-out attempt to save face. Best to not go all out for any politicians in defence of their name/reputation. Happy as I am with Wike's performance as FCT Minister, try and see if I have commented , either way, on any of the claims of properties he allegedly bought in the USA. I am not that naive and have no vested interest in any politician beyond the performance I want from them so that my own living experience of Nigeria can be better and more satisfying. |
| Re: Sowore's $552,000 Mansion In US by WizardOfNG: 11:09am On Sep 26, 2025 |
seunmsg:If that is the case, then my apologies for my assumption the claim of original article is correct. As simple as that. |
| Re: Sowore's $552,000 Mansion In US by WizardOfNG: 11:10am On Sep 26, 2025 |
aribisala0:You are right and Seunmsg addendum post has confirmed that. Sowore’s asset declaration of said property in 2022 supercedes my conversation here and renders them void/superfluous in relation to the matter. |

Sheuns:Stop trying to be clever by half. The person makes it clear why Sowore needed to declare it on an asset declaration form which he needed to do since no one begged him to try and go for an elective post. Also the fact his wife was the main owner makes no difference seeing as that is exactly the same situation for Wike and the 4 or 5 houses Sowore exposed. I have never complained about having tainted and compromised "freedom fighters" in Nigeria, just let them admit it and stop the "holier than thou" behaviour, they only make themselves look more and more deceitful. EDIT: Just rechecked the law, he did not need to declare it, you are correct. |

Putindbutt:Perhaps its you who should go read and comprehend. The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) requires public officers to declare their assets, liabilities, income, and interests using Form CCB 1 to ensure transparency and compliance with the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act. You are not a public officer until you are elected or appointed. Now, provide evidence for your claim please.

While I am not holding brief for Wike, Sowore, in the name of investigative journalism and holdin political office holders accountable in Nigeria, has received grants and donations from US-based foundations. MacArthur foundations, Ford foundation and others have given grant and donation Saharareporter the time past. I will send an email to MacArthur foundation about their mechanism of accountability for their grant... |

aribisala0:When I say sides, I mean pro and anti the ruling government. My permanent interest is progressive and solutions-driven leadership of Nigeria. To that end I am not concerned about the personal business of any Nigerian leader to then be subjected to the bolded in your post Support for Wike's work as FCT Minister does not extend to me joining a "side" to petition anyone for verification of his innocence over allegation of illegal property ownership. When things move beyond what leaders are doing, related to their core brief of finding solutions for the problems that ails Nigerians, count me out. I have no "side" when it comes to blind defence or exoneration of leaders over allegations no sensible person can call 100%. Progressive political observers and commentators are never groupies. |

WizardOfNG:I am pro any ruling government as long as they are in power I am not on their side. They can be advised, applauded or criticised Wike is a person not the government Betta Edu was removed for similar or less so why can't he be scrutinised? Well it matters We are talking millions of dollars . It matters if it is stolen government money It matters because it might be the tip of the iceberg It matters because it might still be happening It matters because Nigerians should be watching Tinubu's response And that affects 2027 elections It matters because is taints our image |
