I had sent the pack back to him 3 times before. Within a week of getting it. It did the same thing, I sent it back. A few weeks later, same issue. In one occasion, I even sent it back from the motor park because the BMS will not come on!!! From the motor park o!!

Later the guy started giving me attitude and made up my mind not to contact him again.

I have since moved on and getting packs I need from other people.

Recently got 3 packs from Valto, no issues. I have gotten 5 from him without issues

Moral of the story. Choose DIY carefully. Assembling is a small part of the story. Design, testing, support, warranty is 90% of engineering.

I'm tired.

Original things still dey; you just wouldn't find them outside the market any how because they would be more costly. You need go in wella BECAUSE most are after selling what's cheaper which is wanted by majority of the populace

Everyone has things they are passionate about

But it is the course of wisdom to know when to take a chill pill and realize that in the market of ideas some ideas maybe superior to others

Another issue is that a truly wise person can be opinionated but will give ground to superior arguments when they are marshalled

To do this requires stepping aside from our strongly held views and looking at them dispassionately and objectively and not subjectively, that is separating feeling from fact and emotion from fact

Insisting for example on 300 watt panels in 2025 is taking us back to 2018 technology and is equivalent to insisting on carburetors (or automatic seat belts) in a modern car or like a three-speed manual transmission or a carbureted engine for a new mainstream passenger car..

In 3 years (that is 2028) 1000 watt panels might be in vogue

On the issue of bifocal panels, our guy made good points but overflogged the issue and seemed reject any attempt to challenge his position by experimentation.

Here are the key points for anyone shopping for panels:

Bifacial solar panels represent an upgrade in energy production because they can capture not only direct sunlight but also reflected light from the ground or surrounding surfaces (the albedo effect). In the right conditions, this added efficiency can translate into stronger long-term returns on investment. While my Monos struggle to reach maximum output, as soon as the conditions are slightly ok, the bi panels hit maximum power and sustain it for long, but my panels are raised and not on the roof!

Monofacial panels, however, remain the go-to option for most residential rooftops. Since these installations usually have the back of the panel shaded or placed close to the roof, there’s little opportunity for extra energy gain from reflected light.

In the end, the decision comes down to the site. Bifacial panels are worth the higher upfront cost ( bu these days that they are costng the same or less than mono is there any justification to go mono?) only when the installation environment—such as highly reflective surfaces and elevated mounting—creates enough additional energy production to make the investment pay off.

That said, if the conditions are right, insisting on monofacial panels in 2025 instead of bifacial panels is equivalent to insisting on carburetors instead of electronic fuel injection (EFI) in modern automotive technology.

it's quite FUNNY how most of you lots have chosen to INTENTIONALLY be IGNORANT.

Well my view remains, if Buying Solar panels,
1a. if buying brand new, focus more on MONO solar panels, especially Half-Cut cells if your budget can accommodate it.

1b. if buying USEd, focus more on between 300w and 350w MONO solar panels, especially Half-Cut cells if your budget can accommodate it. Reason why I'm suggesting 300w and 350w as max is because most times, when the GOOD Guys want to cheat you, it's mostly 300w or 350w Solar panel they would sell as > 400 or > 500 watts.
Of course, if you sure your dealer / installer has your interest at heart, or you have the knowledge to spot the correct ones, feel free to do otherWise.

1c. Bi-Facial should only be considered after careful evaluation of needs and you sure you meet the requirements (this probably sounds like chatGPT to some people - yea even our new Chemistry Teacher once failed me because my answers appeared too good to come from a Student, She probably thought I copied also.)

2. if going Bi-Facial, ensure you mount it the right way else you just wasted money.

3. The cost of a Bi-Facial solar panels goes beyond just the price on it's receipt; you need mounting accessories different from what's used for others + even common sense would tell you if a 500w solar panel is capable of yielding up to 530w (at least in theory), you need account for those with regards to cables, fuses, etc.

Mind you, all Solar panels ain't same quality. Just like I've said on batteries, you better of with a High quality Mono Solar panel, than a low quality half-cut or Bi-Facial solar panel.

Don't forget, SELLers rarely loose because it's you the BUYer whose money is always on the line

Imagine finding this as a newbie, one person will then advice you to buy used panel of 300W, used standalone systems, bare aluminium wires, to mount your panels directly on roof, buy 100 tanks for storing water so you won't use your inverter to pump water for a year
