PRESS RELEASE

RE: ULTIMATUM TO MR. PETER OBI BY THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC)

Our attention has been drawn to the recent statement released by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) concerning the resolutions of the Coalition and our role within it.

We wish to restate our position clearly. While we remain fully committed to the vision of the Coalition and acknowledge the adoption of the ADC as the coalition platform, it is on record that His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi aligned with the coalition’s position after the Anambra State Governorship Election, extending to the 2027 General Elections. This adoption and pronouncement were made publicly by the party. We are therefore concerned as to why the resolution is now being altered midway into the agreement.

H.E. Peter Obi, as a leader with a broad constituency, has always taken time to consult widely before making major political decisions. He did so before joining the coalition, and he must also do so before responding to any ultimatum.

As the Obidient Movement, being part of the main consulting bloc, we are particularly concerned about how the party intends to zone its presidential ticket. Considering that the presidency is currently held by the South, issues of equity and fairness must guide such decisions if the party truly aims to secure victory in the 2027 elections.

We are equally interested in how the party zones its principal offices within the coalition, as this will ensure justice, fairness, and inclusivity — factors that will enable us to mobilize effectively across the country.

It must be emphasized that H.E. Peter Obi is not desperate to be President of Nigeria. His ultimate mission is to see Nigeria work — to lift people out of poverty, to improve the economy, education, healthcare, and security. These were the reasons he joined the coalition in the first place targeted towards good governance which are the core values of the Obidient Movement

National Coordinator

It’s unfortunate that midway into an agreement, some actors are already shifting positions. If truly the ADC platform was adopted for the coalition, then consistency and integrity demand that all stakeholders respect that decision. Peter Obi’s strength has always been in his credibility and broad appeal — altering the resolution now only weakens the coalition and confuses supporters. Nigeria needs unity and clear direction, not political back-and-forth.

Of course it's a trap! They want to get him into a corner so they can easily truncate his ambition and he'll have no where else to go! The two principal characters interested in seeing Peter Obi tied down and locked into ADC are Atiku and Tinubu!

Emotions aside. The bitter truth is that Obi will not be able to replicate his 2023 numbers if he chooses to run alone. It would be a great political setback for the Southeast if he chooses to be selfish. Peter Mbah is already on his way to APC and Alex Otti is untrustworthy. Soludu openly supports Tinubu while Imo and Ebonyi are APC states. What is Obi negotiating with that makes Obidients always demand for the ADC ticket without Obi participating in a primary? Obi's fate will be as good as sealed if Jonathan clinches the PDP ticket. The SE has the lowest INEC voter registration number. Obi is not even mobilising for the ADC in the SE like other coalition members are doing in their regions. The likes of Aisha Yesufu and Co are only interested in campaign funds. Nothing more, nothing less.

Lol. Check again. I have always been favourably disposed to Obi contesting alone. Obi deputising in the coalition "might" actually cost ADC votes. GEJ coming into the picture only makes the meal more palatable. It is Tinubu, who needs to lock the Southern votes down. From what we saw yesterday in Ibadan, Tinubu still has his work cut out for him in the SW. A 3-horse race in the South will be detrimental to Tinubu's chances and you know it.

Cut the bullshit about what’s good for Tinubu or the south. Tinubu has been winning elections since 1992 so he doesn’t need the advice of an Atiku supporter on how to go about winning an election.

Atiku is your candidate and he’s failing woefully with his coalition. The only small chance that coalition has is getting Atiku and Obi to work together. That way, they are sure of winning North east and South east convincingly. Once Obi pulls out of ADC, the coalition is dead. Atiku won’t get 5% in any southern state.

So go and tell your Atiku to start begging Peter Obi. All these empty bragging will take him no where.

It is not Atiku who is sending emissaries to talk Jonathan out of contesting. It is not Atiku's ministers who are drawing every permutation and advising Jonathan not to lose his "credibility" by contesting. If Tinubu felt Obi contesting alone will benefit him as it did in 2023, he wouldn't have used apparatus of state to destroy the labour party. For the umpteenth time, Tinubu only won 4 states in the entire South in 2023. All four were from the Southwest. Make of this what you will. Time is a gentleman.

Igboland is a different and unique nation.
When it comes to politics in igboland those governors you mentioned don't control the electorates.
If a free and fare election is conducted in igboland anybody PETER OBI supports will win landslide.
The south East is locked up for PETER OBI.

90% of votes coming out from South East are fake results. There were actually written. South East is the most corrupt region in Nigeria because they don't actually votes , they write results, hence 6 millions votes for Peter Obi is a ruse. He did not have up to 3 million votes

If that were true, the governors in the East will not be decamping to the APC enmass and his candidate will win the upcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra. A free and fair election is not guaranteed, does Obi have what it takes to defend his votes outside of the coalition? Obi only got the numbers he got in 2023 because people genuinely believed he stood a chance then. Not many, outside his region, will still queue up and vote for him just to "waste their votes." The dynamics are now different, and inasmuch as I want Obi to contest alone for strategic reasons, he would get lesser number of votes than he did in 2023.

The Southeast as a region can either decide to be strategic with their votes as other regions did in the past and still do, or go solo and "waste their votes" again. Whatever outcome will be fine but they must bear in mind the current trajectory of the country and the future of young Southeasterners in the geographical equation called Nigeria.

Peter Obi is not desperate to be president! What other tool do the likes of Tinubu and Atiku have in their arsenal if not loads of dollars with which to bribe hungry, naive and desperate delegates and the wider electorate with, à la weaponisation of poverty....as well as falling back on ethnic cleavages and divides promoted by the Nigerian ruling class!?

Nigerians are their worst enemy and the number one reason the country has stagnated or even retrogressed in all socio-economic indices since the late 60s to date! If they don't wise up and fight the demonic forces holding them down they are doomed to remain a country with unfulfilled potential!

The claim by Obidients that the primaries will be dollarised as a justification for Obi not participating in a democratic internal party process is misplaced. Atiku has lost primary elections and supported the winners several times in the past.

1993 Vs MKO: He stepped down and supported MKO.

2011 Vs GEJ: he came 2nd and supported Jonathan.

2015 Vs Buhari: He came 3rd and supported Buhari.

These are the years he didn't get the tickets.

To exercise power for good, you have to first strategise and get it. Power is never served ala carte. Real politicians know this and that's why alliance will forever be a thing. Whoever thinks they can do it alone is free to go try. The PDP is there and they have already zoned their ticket to the South.

P:S: Obi is clearly keeping Obidients in the dark because he participated virtually in the ADC meeting and agreed with all resolutions reached. I wonder why though. Maybe because he knows a lot of them are opportunists and only want to embezzle campaign funds.

You are clandestinely campaigning for a failure and certainly a looser come 2027.
Someone who has infested this nation with the highest suffering, poverty and destruction ever known to mankind can never win the the 2027 election. He can only boast of south west votes nothing more.
You can remain caged in your tribal mindset thinking that everyone else is thinking like you.

PETER OBI will win landslide in 2027
