Lumos Laboratories Beats American, Namibian Companies to Win Global Award.

Lumos Laboratories Ltd, an Abuja based tech company, founded by Anambra-born Ejikeme Nwosu has won another global award. At the Global African Hydrogen Summit in Windhoek, Namibia, Lumos was presented with the Hydrogen Innovation of the year award.

The company was selected ahead of strong contenders including NEX clean Energy(USA), and Hylron (Namibia).

According to the organisers in a letter, Lumos Laboratories was recognized for their innovative approach in driving hydrogen technology forward across Africa and Beyond.

The award ceremony took place on September 10, 2025, in Windhoek, Namibia.

Speaking on the award, Founder Lumos Laboratories Nigeria Limited, Mr Ejikeme Nwosu said, "I feel very excited, especially to have been recognized on a global stage based on merit, hardwork and dedication."

Continuing he said,"I want to extend a special thank you to my family, team, friends, and well-wishers for their unwavering support".

The Global Hydrogen Summit is a pivotal event focused on the future of hydrogen as a clean energy source.

The Summit is held under the official patronage and hosted by the Government of Namibia, endorsed by the Ministry of Industries, Mines & Energy of Namibia, held in partnership with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), and supported by the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme (NGH2P).

This year's program was themed :Ambition in Action: Fuelling Africa's Green Industrial Revolution.

The three-day Summit convened heads of state, ministers, business leaders, project developers, investors, technologists and end users from across Africa and around the globe to drive partnerships for, and critical investments and financing into, bankable green energy projects of strategic and national importance across Africa.

Recall recently, Nwosu equally presented two scientific papers, the Lumos Laboratories' latest breakthroughs in green hydrogen production from waste at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall 2025 conference in Washington, D.C., from August 17-21.

Speaking to Anambra People magazine, he said "I'm glad we're able to emphatically told them that we are proud to be the first company in the world to do what we have done by creating such a singular plant that converts human waste into hydrogen rich gasses, blended with methane from a biodegradable wastes as well to generate electricity.

"They're all excited to see what we have done and especially many where baffled and asked how we got money to set up such kind of Laboratory .

" We were the only company that presented research from Nigeria, apart from universities that sent some people to attend. We also presented another paper on using of urine to generate hydrogen through a process known as dark fermentation" , Mr Nwosu concluded.

Converting S** to hydrogen gas used to generate electricity?
Wow! That is really commendable.
I recall a backstory of an asian country that prioritized human waste for agricultural produce so much ppl started stealing other pplz human waste. Lmao

It'd be great to see an even better innovation (converting human waste into electricity) especially here in Africa.
There's a huge awakening on Bio & Green energy resources in Africa, Nigeria to be precise. All i can say is, what a joy!

It's good to be educated.
It helps to put your brain on a higher pedestal.
While you are there, you dare not try to be envious, jealous, or be imbued with inferiority complex.
If you do, you cannot be said to be sophisticated.
But you can promote skullarship through underdevelopment and backwàrdness.
Lest I forget, the name is Lumos Laboratories, and there should be no urge to change the name like a change of the name of a street.
So leave it as it is, as there would be no room for demolition.
