He was not in the game at all. It was in his interest and for the bigger picture.
Newcastle posed no major attacking threat. Since the action was happening in the opposition half, getting more bodies to mount pressure was the best thing to do.
Remember City substituted Haaland to bring in a defensive midfielder.They needed more bodies at the back since Haaland and the frontline players were making any impact upfront.
Keeping him on the bench is recommended until he regains his confidence.
