Nigerian Govt To Begin Enforcing Tax Payment For All Income Earners Including 'Runs Girls' And Remote Workers stelladimokokorkus.comSep 30, 2025 10:00 AM From January 2026, the Nigerian government will begin enforcing a new tax policy that includes all income earners—regardless of profession or legality of the activity. This means that individuals engaged in sXx work will be required to pay taxes on their earnings....... Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policies and Reforms, emphasized that the law does not distinguish between legal and illegal sources of income. The key criterion is whether money was earned or not. If so, it's taxable. This move is part of President Bola Tinubu’s broader effort to expand Nigeria’s tax base and stabilize the economy. The policy also applies to social media influencers and Nigerians working remotely for foreign companies, especially those earning in foreign currencies. |

My only question is how does the government monitor remote workers. |

While taxing remote workers is good , if the government doesn't step up and provide the requisite infrastructure that will sustain remote work , we might end up with a situation where remote workers will migrate to Ghana, Dubai, south Africa, united Kingdom because of the availability of cheep constant electricity ,internet and security |

A govt that can't create jobs or the enabling environment for jobs has no business trying to claim every inflow into your bank account is an income ..every inflow cannot be an income ..for example when I collect my salary it's already taxed and then I take from that salary and send 200k a semester to my cousin that I am sponsoring, what Tinubu is saying that once they register 800k in his account they will tax him ...that's double taxation ..I am spending that money so he can be useful to society and not become a problem to society |

JagaLove:This is really revolutionary! And I'm glad we finally got rid of soldier and elected an accountant, despite my Obidience. Basically, government will now enforce taking a portion of our income, and they will spend it how they've been spending Nigeria money they've been spending, except this time they'll be spending our Nigerian money how they been spending the Nigeria money they been spending, and we get to vote who spends our Nigerian money how. Least we might, when we see our money taken out of our pockets and spent.
