Electricity Supply Falls As Oil Unions Go On Strike by BlackViper(op): 3:20pm On Sep 30, 2025
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has stated that electricity generation on the National Grid has dropped to 3,200 megawatts (MW) due to the industrial action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

A statement by NISO said the disruptions by PENGASSAN triggered widespread gas shortages, reducing available generation from over 4,300 MW.

It, however, said it has deployed contingency measures to preserve the stability, security, and reliability of the National Grid through strategic ramp-ups from major hydro stations, contributing over 400 MW of additional output to cushion the shortfall from gas-fired plants.

The statement reads, “There are now real-time load adjustments to match available generation with system demand, while preventing a system frequency collapse. While continuous deployment of reactive power compensation and reserve monitoring to safeguard system integrity is strengthened.

“There is selective load shedding, applied as a last resort, to avert a system-wide collapse and ensure fair power distribution. These timely actions enabled the NISO NCC to minimize the impact of the labour-induced gas shortages, sustain operational security, and maintain supply to critical loads, thereby averting a nationwide blackout.”

The agency assured its commitment to proactive grid management, operational excellence, and the application of best-in-class practices to guarantee a secure and reliable electricity supply for the nation.

It’s still very absurd to see some people still supporting this Tinubu government….fools are too much in Nigeria

What exactly is Tinubu doing as president?

Why did he choose to become president?

I see them as wicked and heartless people, people who will rather see themselves and their families suffer just to mock a certain people for losing election, winning election is more important to them than their lives and that of their loved ones...

If you pay attention you will understand that Tinubu is not the cause of the ongoing strike. PENGASSON is a terrible union. No responsible government will allow them destroy the economy.
Re: Electricity Supply Falls As Oil Unions Go On Strike by Inspirer1: 3:51pm On Sep 30, 2025
This just justified the reason not to allow one's employees to join their Union.

Now look at the Scenario that's playing out:
Mr A establishes a refinery or business entity, allows his employees to join that Union. Good right?
Now Mr B establishes a refinery or business entity, doesn't want his employees to join that Union, they allegedly did and were allegedly sacked. Bad?

That Union calls for strike because Mr B was alleged to have sacked his employees, making employees of Mr A who are their members to down tools because of Mr B. Absurd?

Now Mr A is suffering for what he knows nothing about despite allowing his own members to join that Union.

This justifies Mr B's motive for not allowing his own employees to join that Union because there's possibility that Mr A or any other investor may have issues with that Union tomorrow and that Union will call for strike like they just did and it will affect him which he doesn't want.

They know and they know what they are doing. They blame Tinubu for everything whether his fault or not. Their aim is to demarket him because their candidate has no positive qualities, programmes or alternative ideas with which they can use to sell him.

Why? If he truly owns the Malta refinery then this crisis is a wonderful opportunity for him.

A Man that cares only about himself, Is the largest employer of labour after FG in Nigeria.

Is refinery alone pays over 4000 employee and put food on there table.

Almighty pengassan that love workers more than Dangote how much do they contribute to there members salaries instead

the relationship between pengassan nd workers is it not liability .. one pays one hoping she becomes " useful" one day undecided

You guys speak without knowledge. The workers are simply fighting for their rights and capitalists like dangote would seek to make profits off the workers paying them stipends in return.
So many companies are preventing their workers from joining unions because they want to exploit the workers and pay them peanuts in return. It is a general practice worldwide that workers form unions to protect themselves from greedy capitalists.
Unionism is supposed to be by choice but Dangote took punitive measures against the workers that joined the union.
If workers don't defend their rights it would be a case of monkey dey work baboon dey chop which is the situation of Nigerian workers salaries and the salaries of our crooked politicians.

You can imagine, even the Employers that gave there workers freedom are not speared by the Union that scored them good ... whats now the gain

Today if Dangote bows n allow Union, should BUA come n resist Union ... Dangote refinery will suffer shutdown, Even if you join Union your fate depends on make nobody pull Union brest 🤣
