Former presidential aide Reno Omokri argues that Nigerians often overlook the country’s progress in education, economy, energy, and inflation, insisting that “Nigeria happening” also means positive developments.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has called on Nigerians to acknowledge the progress being made across several sectors of the country instead of attributing national identity only to negative outcomes.

Omokri, in a statement on Monday, said the phrase “Nigeria has happened to me” is often used to describe setbacks, while the many positive developments in the country are overlooked.

According to him, Nigeria is experiencing measurable improvements in education, the economy, electricity supply, inflation, and fuel exports.

Omokri disclosed that more than 600,000 Nigerians have benefited from student loans provided by the federal government to enable them pursue higher education. He described the initiative as one of the most impactful social policies under the current administration.

He noted that Nigeria’s inflation rate dropped to 20.12% in August 2025, from 21.88% in July, reflecting a gradual decline in food prices across the country. He contrasted this progress with Argentina’s worsening economic situation, adding that several other countries are struggling to manage inflation.

Omokri also pointed to progress in the energy sector, stating that Nigeria recently achieved its highest-ever electricity generation output, with a peak of 5,801.84 megawatts and a maximum daily output of 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh).

He explained that Nigeria has moved from being Africa’s largest petrol importer in 2023 to becoming the leading exporter of refined petroleum products in West Africa, a shift that has contributed to more stable fuel prices locally.

Omokri said the economy has expanded by about
