JUST IN: Fifth Female Local Government Official Dies in Lagos Within Two Months

Lagos State has recorded yet another tragic loss with the death of Mrs. Adebimpe Akinola, the Council Manager of Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA). Her passing on Monday, September 29, 2025, marks the fifth death of a female local government official in the state within just two months.

According to reports by thegazellenews, Mrs. Akinola, who until her death was the Chairman of the Forum of Council Managers in Lagos State, died after a brief illness. She was described as a dedicated administrator and the Head of Administration of Coker/Aguda LCDA.

News of her death was formally announced by the Forum of Council Managers in a statement that read: “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing away of our dear Chairman, Mrs. Adebimpe Akinola, this afternoon, Monday, 29th September, 2025. She was the Council Manager of Coker/Aguda LCDA until her death.”

The Forum further disclosed that she would be laid to rest according to Islamic rites on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Her Janazah Prayer is scheduled to take place at Al Kitab Mosque, Abosede Onamade Street, Eleshin, after Zuhr Prayer at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at the Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara, by 2:00 p.m.

Mrs. Akinola’s passing adds to a growing list of female local government officials in Lagos State who have died in the short period since the inauguration of the present council administration on July 27, 2025. On August 13, Councillor Oluwakemi Rufai of Ward C in Ibeju Lekki Local Government died just weeks after her swearing-in. Barely five days later, on August 18, Councillor Zainab Shotayo of Ward C in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA also passed away. The cycle of losses continued in September when Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose, Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, died on September 20, followed by the death of Councillor Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan of Ward F, Somolu Local Government, on September 21.

Her death, coming so soon after these others, has deepened the sense of grief and shock across Lagos councils, with many describing the string of tragedies as unprecedented in the state’s local government system.

You seem very much invested in these topics. This was your comment upon the death of the 4th one last week.

I recall thinking the last woman on the list must have heard about the earlier deaths without knowing she would soon be on that list.

I wonder how the other females are feeling right now?

If another woman dies...

This is a worrisome development for the female folks in LASG LG council. What is really going on - health challenges or unnatural situations? There is need for answers.

Women stay in the kitchens. Politics isn't for women.

Even the so-called developed countries... The men have been de-balled and unhappy about it.

Matriarchy is supposed to be the Natural rulers, not patriarchy, hence why the world is in shambles. The female energy creates and is divine.

Several bankers, doctors, lawyers, students, even bandits have also died within the period. So this report is senseless. Besides, this particular woman is not an elected LG Chairperson, so what nonsense report is this?

Did they say 'may Nigeria not happen to them'?
APC Tinubu supporters should do this investigation.

My condolences to her loved ones

President Tinubu needs to call Lagos politicians to order and put a curse upon those who may be engaging in untimely termination of elected officials within the state.

If this systematic female political cleansing was happening in Anambra, they will drag Anambra from morning to night.

But silence is everywhere because it's Lagos.

You don't need a forensic expert to determine that these women were all poisoned.

Saner climes will conduct autopsy while 4th world country will blame imaginary juju.

The stress of the position is likely dropping them. Abeg, they should return the role to males since it seems biology is not on the women’s side.
