One of the things I enjoy most about being a freelance writer is this: Every job teaches me something new. I feel like I'm slowly acquiring multiple degrees across various fields. As I conduct in-depth research before writing, it feels like I'm studying for an exam. Hence expanding my knowledge-base while simultaneously getting paid for it.

One minute, I'm writing about practical health tips that save lives. The next day I'm writing about business strategies for young entrepreneurs. After which I'm writing a fictional book that teaches valuable life lessons. And before you know it, someone hires me to write about the deadliest planes from World War 2 for his YouTube channel.

Somehow, my clients have become my lecturers, giving me topics and asking me to turn them into essays. Thankfully, I always end up with excellent grades, and that's why they keep coming back.

Lol. You've gotten it all wrong. Posting my business line in an advert is necessary for my prospects to reach me as quickly and effectively as possible. WhatsApp communication is faster and more convenient than emails. I'm not posting my number because of a lack of jobs. It's purely for communication sake. And just so you know, I make more than half a million per month, strictly off freelance writing. How many people's corporate salaries can match that figure?

You are right. Freelancing (especially freelance writing) is now supersaturated. The level of competition is insane. With new folks joining the fray, everyone is now racing to the bottom because they believe that reducing their fees is the best way to attract new clients. To make things worse, the advent of ChatGPT in November 2022 equally ruined freelance writing. So many AI systems are now being developed.

Days ago, I had an interview with a foreign company that builds an AI system that interviews job applicants and sends the recorded video to the employer. I had a one-to-one conversation with this hiring AI system and it kept asking me tough questions in my field. It told me to ask it a hard question, I did and it answered it so well. I was worried for HR people because most of them will become jobless in the coming years.

My brother, even with the advent of AI, freelance writing is still in high demand. It's been paying my bills for years, and it continues to do so. Come to think of it, which profession isn't oversaturated? Shey na doctor, lawyer, carpenter, fashion designer? Or which one abeg? Is it only freelance writing?

Many years of experience, creativity, and ability to conduct in-depth research are all I need to write.
