The thing dey make me laff at times.
Dem dey hawk DC matter like gala for head.

You know what's very weird about the talking points: they take the highest performing international films or in this instance anime films and compare it with CBMs lower performers.

Why not compare it with the higher performers or the heavy hitters CBMs?

Well, 2027 no far again and I'll like to see this same talking points that year when Batsy and the rest flex their muscles.

Comparing the most popular anime currently to Superman whose popularity has been diminishing for years is quite funny. Same for F4 franchise.
What they don't want to tell us is bringing out stats for other foreign films which even some of their highest performing films can't still touch the lower or middle grossing films of CBMs anyday. So this is a very rare, once in a Blue Moon occurrence. And not the norm.

Anyways, let's see what changes comes in the future..... 😎

I watched "Requiem for a dream" recently. It was so good that I had to go to Reddit to check other people's opinion on it. It made me watch "Black swan" next. Darren Aronofsky knows how to make disturbing movies just like Ari Aster.
Welcome back.....Long time.
How you been?

Tried watching this sometime late last year but couldn't get really into it in the first few minutes..... But will get back to it someday.

Have you checked out Ari Aster's new film Eddington?.

Pretty good year for WB..... Historic even....
Smart business pushing MK 2 into next year to help the movie slate better perform.

It's done more than enough to close the year very strongly at the box office. And could possibly challenge really well at the Awards circuit with F1, SINNERS, WEAPONS and ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER.
Disney will still end up the top studio end of the year but WB really had a good run. More especially with the kind of titles it fielded this year.

Looking forward to how it fares next year.
2027 is the year of WB with heavy hitters aplenty. Could very well challenge for № 1 studio that year with the projects in that slate......that's if nothing changes for now (especially with the sale/merger talks in the works).

RELAY

Well written, intense thriller.
Great performance from Riz Ahmed and Lily James.

The twist at the end. I didn't see it coming at all.

8/10

Hey, I have been alright. I trust you have been doing well too. If you like Ari Aster's movies, there is a probability that you will like Darren Aronofsky's movies. I am yet to see "Eddington." Is it good? Like better than "Hereditary" and "Midsommar"?

Yeah, I've watched a couple of Aronofsky's movies NOAH and BLACK SWAN which I really enjoyed. I've downloaded REQUIEM FOR A DREAM and THE WHALE but haven't found time to watch them yet.
Also have CAUGHT STEALING in my sights.

I haven't watched EDDINGTON yet. Just downloaded. I've heard it's pretty good and one of this year's best films but I've heard otherwise also. You know just how Aster's polls can be mixed.
But I doubt if anything from him can top MIDSOMMAR or HEREDITARY for me.

Last movie I have watched was Fantastic Four, which was a disaster. I just wanted to see the post credit scene where DR Doom shows, & what is his connection with the baby?

I think I am going to watch more of Aronofsky's movies. Wait, he was the one that directed "The whale?" I guess I was not into him when I watched the movie. I only watched it because of Sadie Sink. It was a good movie, I think Brendan Fraser won an Oscar for his role.

I was obsessed with Tim Burton a while ago and I have like almost his entire movies even though I am yet to see everything. I will check out "Eddington" definitely but to me nothing is beating "Hereditary", that's like Ari's best work till date. I watched "Weapons" and "Bring her back" recently and they are like the best horror movies released this year, okay with "Sinners" too.

Pretty poor month for movies..... 😩 In a month of plenty releases.... Man, I'm slowly losing interest in movies these days or na ginger no just dey.

It's becoming way easier to just go to TV shows and watch cos they're more dependable I'll have a good time and more intimate infusion with the story compared to movies.

Yeah, he directed The Whale and that brought Brendan Fraser that elusive Oscars.

Yeah, sometimes there's some actors or directors you get obsessed with after experiencing one of their films or performances and keep wanting more. I had that with David Fincher for a while.

I completely agree with you on Bring Her Back and Weapons being the wholesome best horror movies of the year. Sinners while it's also good seem overhyped to me.
Bring Her Back is wildly underrated and not talked about like it deserves. Sally Hawkins delivered a GOATED performance and probably my favourite oddball character in film this year, over Weapon's "Aunty Gladys" .

So you've mainly focused on horror this year?
Do you also watch foreign language films?
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 12:09pm On Oct 01, 2025
F1..... 9/10

This is a top tier sports racing movie and a high octane delivery and performance.

Superb delivery and direction from Joseph Kosinski— easily my favourite film of his. It was a joy watching this film come to life especially it being one of my favourite sports. The joy of watching this was out of this world. The pitstops, the adrenaline rush, the intense action, the techniques, the dark arts and everything was just pure JOY.

Peak entertainment!!!

Javier Bardem is slowly becoming one of my favourite old time actors on screen. Damson Idris and Brad Pitt rivals-cum-collaborators really hyped me up. That rivalry reminds me of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg back in the days. And I remember one crazy driver that was involving in accidents and risky driving back then — was it Kimi Raikonnen or who at Redbull or Ferrari?

Easily the best movie I've seen so far from this year.
And I'm glad I actually got my box office prediction for this spot on. 😉🤭
A win for Original movies.

There's not much I can say that hasn't been said before...... I would have loved to have watched this on the big screen. It's an immaculate experience.

Absolute cinematic masterpiece from Apple TV and WB. A perfect symbiotic collaboration. Now I look forward to Kosinski's next film.

Jurassic World: Rebirth....... 5/10

Just another soulless Park dinosaurs movie. Was pretty much unmoved by it. Also had a pretty wack or nonexistent writing. But alas, it continues to make huge money nonetheless.

Anyways, glad I can finally say my "I told You so"..... I always knew no matter the hype and draw, this movie didn't fully have the sauce to hit that Billie.
Another spot on box office prediction. 🤭

Still beats me how I've only watched one film (Magnolia) in his filmography despite having almost all his films in my radar for years. 😳🤦🏽‍♂️ Downloaded There Will Be Blood and Boogie Nights over a year now, yet unwatched.

Hoping to correct that at least by year's end.
I'll suggest you watch boogie nights alone.... in the dark

Watching this movie in the cinema is a different feeling than on a phone screen

Mantis (2025)

A sequel to Kill Boksoon.
It was always going to be hard to match Kill Boksoon and sure enough this was not anywhere as good as that movie.

The 1st half of this movie was extremely slow and a hard watch. I almost quit the entire movie but it got better in the 2nd half.

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Baddestguyp(m): 6:02pm On Oct 01, 2025
The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)....6.5/10

Honestly the movie was better than I expected. I expected a waste of my time but I was entertained.

The plotline is absolutely hilarious and sîlly but I respect it for at least doing something different.

Superhero movies with shared universes always seem funny in a Solo movie especially when movies like these somehow pretend other superheros do not exist.

Sue's speech to convince the world after they turned on the Fantastic Four and their baby was hilariously dvmb. I didn't take the movie seriously but that scene was toddler-level writing.

If you need something to spend 2 hours of your time on, it's a good watch. Not a good movie but at least somewhat entertaining
