It's sustainable. That's the kind of subsidy that will get to the masses unlike petrol subsidy only few billionaires are benefiting. The northern people are like cattles but we southerners are the grass they are eating. We talk too much yet won't act. Government release policies and funds we won't apply while the northerners goes everywhere they can smell money. It happens during the Anchor borrowers program and it's happening now. Talk of oversabi in the south

Well, you’ve a point there about the farmers being engaged in a venture but if history is anything to go by, this NELFUND won’t be any different.
You remember how many people also thought the NIRSAL Covid “loans” were a grant until their accounts started getting debited?
Where I think this NELFUND will be slightly different is beneficiaries now don’t start paying back until they’re gainfully employed; if they don’t pay back especially if they’re later on employed and receiving salaries, it’s just to place an auto-debit on their accounts using BVN that way, DSS or EFCC won’t even have to be involved.

Yes, still the same top states will present lowest number of school enrollment. Each time the figures do not match. It's only when it's time to chop that we see figures pouring like rain. They benefit more from the government, yet they will be the first to complain when power leaves them.
Kudos to those who don't depend on government handouts to survive. They are the real citizens and no matter how the system tries to suppress them, they will always survive and thrive.

if they are like most graduates who don't get employed in paid jobs but end up running businesses, they can perpetually keep claiming the jobless status.. well, we can only keep our fingers crossed to see how things will pan out

In the US despite their good economy majority of students take loan for schooling infact you are encouraged to do so and it is one of the reasons why they are educated.

There's nowhere in the world where taking loan is considered enviable. Take the loan if you need it but do not belate those who do not need as being unwise. Every penny borrowed must be paid.

Part of the reason why we Igbos are not on that list is majorly because our names alone will disqualify many.. So things like this don't make headline news in our region.

We are born not to depend, but if we see help we go accept sha.

It's nothing to rejoice about if your state is not there on the list- these people are just making use of available opportunities to share in the national cake, not just because they need the money! Besides, their population is also high, so they'll definitely record more applicants. These people know that the loan will likely become a gift in the nearest future so they'll definitely apply more. Tell your people to also chop and clean mouth

Most parents from my state and other south south and southeast states can comfortably sponsor the education of their wards.

What is the need to burden the nation with loans in the name of waiver? People like you who sees every loan from the government as nonrefundable are a serious problem to Nigeria.

Please go ahead and take a loan for something you can confidently finance without worries. After all, it is government money. The 'better south' will not do that.
