Another good development news from this government. The student loan beneficiaries have been praising president Tinubu for such opportunity. The opposition will really struggle with their campaigns in 2027 |

slivertongue:Just like the 35k salary award for federal workers that was supposed to be paid for six months but ended after a month. The same thing happened to NYSC corpers increment that was unpaid until the female corper cried out in the viral video. Why should Tinubu and Oshiomhole’s Assembly of Past Criminals, APC wait for over a year to do right for pensioners? What is the wickedness for, when they are saving $84 billion from subsidy removal that has made petrol and life so expensive, just to steal and buy more luxury for themselves? Why does APC have a history of treating pensioners badly ![]() anonimi:Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world. The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency. Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives. The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-02/nigeria-budgets-for-suvs-and-yachts-amid-economic-hardship |

Goddyrichie:You just come online and start shouting “people are suffering, people are suffering,” yet the government is actually addressing those very issues, and you're still wailing! The news clearly stated that pensioners who retired before 2004 will receive an increment. And you're upset about that? What's bad about this news? Would you rather see a headline saying the government can no longer pay pensioners who retired before 2004? He also commented on the student loan scheme, but you're still not satisfied. Would it make you happier to read, “500,000 students dropped out of school due to hardship under Tinubu’s government”? You guys are just... aaarrrrgggghhhh 😡🤦♂️ |

LeopardX:According to balablu extreme poverty APC shege ideology, the pensioners should follow Akpabio’s advice, even though they risk death in stampedes. Glimpsetv:The association, in a statement on Sunday by the NAS Capn, Dr. Joseph Oteri, said these needless deaths, a grim reflection of the desperation gripping many Nigerians, underscore the rising hunger and economic hardship that has engulfed the nation. The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) says it is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of over 60 lives in Oyo, Anambra, and Abuja during recent palliative distribution stampedes. The association, in a statement on Sunday by the NAS Capn, Dr. Joseph Oteri, said these needless deaths, a grim reflection of the desperation gripping many Nigerians, underscore the rising hunger and economic hardship that has engulfed the nation. “While we commend the government's effort to alleviate the plight of vulnerable citizens through palliatives, it is evident that these measures have been marred by inadequate planning, poor coordination, and lack of accountability,” it said. According to the group, the chaotic scenes that led to the fatal incidents are an “indictment of the systemic failure to address the root causes of hunger and poverty”. The group noted that rising hunger in Nigeria is a national emergency that demands urgent action. “Failure to act decisively will deepen the crisis, with devastating social, economic, and political consequences,” it said. “We mourn with the families of the deceased and demand that the government ensures accountability for this avoidable tragedy. Hunger should never be a death sentence in a country blessed with abundant resources.” “It is time to rise to the challenge of ensuring that every Nigerian can live with dignity, free from the scourge of poverty and hunger,” it added. Therefore, the association called on all levels of government to urgently prioritize sustainable solutions to the hunger crisis. It said, “Palliatives must reach the intended beneficiaries without endangering lives. Transparent and well-organised systems, with the involvement of community leaders and credible NGOs, should be put in place to avoid chaotic distributions. “Beyond temporary relief measures, the government must develop long-term strategies to enhance food production, support local farmers, and stabilize food prices. “Programmes aimed at addressing the needs of the most vulnerable must be scaled up. Access to affordable healthcare, education, and social safety nets is critical to lifting millions out of poverty. “Policies that create jobs and enhance income-generating opportunities should be fast-tracked to reduce dependency on palliatives.” The association noted that two of its chapters in Edo State (Area 3) recently had successful palliative programmes, during which over 2,000 underprivileged persons were fed. It added that one of the key components of the programme was orderliness. https://saharareporters.com/2024/12/22/deaths-oyo-anambra-abuja-food-sharing-stampedes-are-sign-hunger-economic-hardship |

helinues:why do you keep praising mediocrity? Before you start to Judge incorrectly, I am neither for PDP nor APC, no LP. I just want good governance and this particular party hasn't been able to deliver in more than 8 years..please correct me if I'm wrong. This is nothing to celebrate over. Have you seen the damage this party has done to Nigeria? Why do you still rest your hopes on a party? I weep for you you can't even make a simple judgement devoid of sentiment. How much are you paid to support this party? Please tell me. Why are you hell bent in sinking with this party? Why? I hope you would still keep this same energy when insecurity hit you wherever you are in this country. I'd like to believe you're not in this country presently, maybe it's why you are doing this. God bless Nigeria. Sighs. |

ATTENTION PRESIDENT TINUBU: While this is a good gesture, the question ❓ to the Federal Govt is: •Would you give the same Directives OR DO SAME DIRECTIVES APPLICABLE-to the PRIVATE FIRMS LIKE THE BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES, THE MANUFACTURING COMPANIES,etc- to Effect this directives to their Retirees- who have been left behind and are just in one spot mode - suffering and smiling, while the PENCON and The PFAs are getting Bigger and Fatter, the Nigerian Retirees-are getting Poorer ,as what they pay to these Retirees-in Nigeria is nothing to write home about and infact - is liken to -SLAVE MONEY. SO,WHEN A GOVT SAYS ' ACROSS THE BOARD- HOPE IT INCLUDED THE PRIVATE COMPANIES - WHOSE MONEY IS FAR IN EXCESS AT PENCON! |

Relief how and where? Can it buy two beecham antibiotics or two inhaler for those retirees that are sick? My father is a retiree and I pity those of us who have given all their lives to being a civil servant for 30 to 35years. Una go suffer if u don't have a backup plan for ur old age...e go bad ooh. E go shock u join...that job security is a scam from the devil. My advice is: start investing and do it aggressively or u start your own side income build it for three years and switch-over and better ur life now that u still have time and good health. End. |

Goddyrichie:sometimes u wonder if these people that support evil governments are normal. Am saying because they keep defending the same people who never want anything good to get to them. They never gave you free education, health care etc never gave you good jobs, the money that is meant for that is stolen for theirs alone. Imagine serving this country for years and your pension is 35k,if you worked all your life as a civil servant without any other sources income then you practically wasted your life. That’s exactly what it means |
