Ever since I packed into this house I have never had rest. it's like I am his investment plan that he claims profit from every week in and week out.

The funds he's collected from me just this year when calculated it looks like I have extended my stay till 2032 and he still wants more.

I am just a young man struggling and I don't plan on staying in this one room for just another year yet he keeps pressuring me to give him more money every time he has a little problem to sort or just to feed himself daily... Not to talk about the number of times he's come to knock on my door and asked from one grocery or another, which I normally give if I have.

Knowing how hard the situation of the country.. but as it is now it's getting too much. I have tried complaining to his elder brother's who has their own tenants but don't behave like that to talk to him to leave me alone but nothing seems to change. just this morning he came, asking for another sum and I blatantly refused that I don't have, he told me to try even if it's half. I was insisting I don't have then he start raising his voice telling me I would leave his house and he will get someone else in.

I remembered him all the money I have gave him before when calculated I still have seven more years. he's not saying anything reasonable.

Why should you be giving him money in the first place?

He is not your responsibility.

You ought to have got another house long time ago. 2032 indeed.

He has seen you as a weakling that he can milk anytime. When next he threatens you with a quit notice or raises his voice at you. Tell him that you are not giving him a dime. If he wants to evict you he should as well refund your rents first.

Hope you have receipts for the paid amounts....send the guy mail through a lawyer or by yourself to return your money cos you wanna leave. Once anyone accept a sill. y behavior twice, it becomes a norm. Your landlord will not stop.

Make an irresistible offer. Buy that house. It is not compulsory to be a landlord. He can be a tenant and live well.

I deduce you rented your room in a "family house." My previous residence was one and my "landlady" collected similar advances from me a few times due to some needs. But I made sure I informed her brother who issued me a receipt each time.

Funny thing was she thought I owed her rent eventually when I was moving, most likely because of those advances she collected. But I had my proofs, even though she still didn't feel convinced. I never met her once, by the way.

Why don't you leave there? If you can't leave now, then do whatever you need to do to leave? You don't have to stay there if you don't want to. You're not a tree.

Another thing you can do is start audio-recording him, then involve a Lawyer and/or the police that he's harassing you and financially abusing you.

Same thing i m suffering currently...i helped one uzeless abuja marriage couple with my gas cylinder to use because theirs was stolen,and they ve promised buying theirs a week after i lend them mine,i went to collect it back e don turn to war....they used it close to 2 months.

Can you imagine, I just told a friend to leave my house after hosting him for free for four years. Dude wasn't happy, I was sliming because he waste food stuffs and rarely shops. He's money is for alcohol and womanizing. I served him to get my sanity back. Hosting was not the problem because it's a three bedroom flat but his toilet will be smelling so bad that I feel disgusted and brings sand due to boots and won't sweep. It was war just to eject him

First. What you allow will persist

Let me point you to where he threatened you to leave his house if you don't yield to his request. (The point here is that, the person you think you're caring about and suffering for didn't care about you or send you) Please take note.

Even among the relatives and family members, we have people with such bad character.

Don't care if they say you're not good or call you names, you don't have to worry about such.

I've been in that shoe and I have to handle it accordingly at a time and I have my peace. That doesn't mean I didn't support people when I have capacity to. Man can't exist in isolation no doubt but no room for nonsense.

Every new stage of your life require new version of yourself.

That being said, I'm not saying you should not support people within your capacity in as much you capacity to do it at particular time. But ones you discover that anybody want to take advantage of your kind heart, draw the line.

You should have refused like the third time of asking, you allowed him to keep coming and now you want to stop and become the 'bad' tenant. It's well

I hope you have evidence of all the money you gave to him. If not, please do. I think that's your first step to take for now.

When I rented the house he collect money for one and half Year.
Before six months he came to me and said prince am broke..
Pay me for another six months and collect receipt for one year..
I hurried, arrange money and got extension for two years ...
At a time, I had receipt for six years.
When the family decided to sell the house I brought out receipt for five years...
I was compensated handsomely...

Ask him how much he wants to sell the house, that you might have someone interested in buying.

Be careful with issues like this.

If the man in question is a heartless man, he might hurt you, knowing the fact that he owes you alot, and you won't likely pack out if another tenant came looking for accommodation while he might need the money.

Get some people involved, have your proof of money given to him.... Drop a report at nearby station if you are not planning to relocate soon.

You caused it. You could have told him no after the second time. Two things:
1, He thinks you don't have responsibility.
2, He thinks you are foolish.

You need to start asking him to pay back. Tell him you need the money for something very important. Do this almost every week. He'll be the one avoiding you.
