Governor Fubara Dissolves Cabinet, Sacks Commissioners and Public Officers in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed all commissioners and public officers serving in his administration, marking a major shake-up in the state’s political landscape. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The announcement was contained in a statement released in Port Harcourt by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi. According to the statement, the decision followed the recent Supreme Court ruling that directly impacted the structure of Fubara’s government.

Governor Thanks Outgoing Cabinet

Speaking during a valedictory session at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to his cabinet members for their loyalty and service to Rivers State over the past two years.

He commended them for contributing to development projects and emphasized the symbolic importance of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. He also urged Rivers people to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in building a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

“The governor highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s Independence, and called on all Nigerians to work together with Mr President to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous country and a brighter future for all,” the statement read.

Mass Sack Takes Effect Immediately

Governor Fubara officially relieved all affected commissioners and public officers of their duties with immediate effect, while pledging to continue serving the people of Rivers State with renewed dedication.

This latest decision comes just weeks after Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), who served briefly as the state’s interim administrator following Fubara’s earlier suspension by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dissolved boards and suspended commissioners, advisers, assistants, and heads of parastatals.

Since Ibas stepped down on September 18, speculation had lingered over the fate of Fubara’s appointees—until Wednesday’s sweeping cabinet dissolution finally provided clarity.

Fubara is now fully captured, he has to sack his own appointees he appointed when he was fighting Wike to now appoint new commissioner that Wike legislature will approve. This is the condition for the peace deal, the governor is finished completely

Fubara has been commanded to do this, he has been given a list by Wike.

Remember that these were commissioners that he appointed during his clash with Wike. These are his own loyalists. The commissioners loyal to Wike had long resigned before the emergency rule declaration.

I don't think this is a move from a position of strength for Fubara. He will have to appoint a cabinet from a list Wike has already prepared for him. He can't do otherwise or the Wike loyal house of assembly gets him impeached.
Fubara is a governor in name only. He is just a seat warmer now. But I pity him. Wike will make sure he doesn't win the ticket of his party to run again.

His only hope now is for Wike to fall out with president Tinubu at the national level. But Tinubu wants to win in 2027 and needs someone willing to play dirty like Wike. Fubara is done.

Fubara, we are with you. Do what is needful for the peace of River state. There is no point trying to prove anything to anyone. The people that betrayed you the last time are the people around you giving you wrong advice. They are all snakes and please flush them out. And please don't ever listen to the Obidient group. You may have more personal problems than reasoning Fubaras. Why not concentrate in self?
Rivers State needs peace. Fubara said he is all out to comply with whatever decision that aids peace in Rivers State. The Imo State you come from is still battling with UGM and Hope Uzodinma. It doesn't bother you but Rivers State.

Reading through some of the earlier comments above yours commending the Governor's action, it's obvious majority of them seems not to know that these were his own loyalists, unless he presents their names to the HoA for approval and gets their appointment approved then he can be said to now be in control, anything otherwise,,,hmmmmn

Tinubu and Wike have dragged this state backwards not just in policy, but in principle.

What these two men have done to this state from the blatant illegality of the so-called state of emergency, to the reckless dismantling of democratically elected institutions will not only haunt them, it will define their legacy of impunity and authoritarianism.

Fubara is purely playing out a script written for him by Wike.
Tinubu and Wike have taken over the governance of Rivers State from Fubara in the name of Peace Deal.
I know this is what will happen the very day I heard Wike saying "Peace has returned to Rivers State" He has obviously achieved his plans with the help of Tinubu.

You guys should stop blaming fubara, remember he has to mellow down because of supreme court judgement. If assuming supreme court rule in his favour will he sack them. He is simply obeying the court he has no option.

You people forget things easily. They were sacked because they were previously confirmed by the assembly of 4 members declared illegal by the supreme court. So they are 'illegal' commissioners and appointees.
