Dear Fam

I have this son of mine who is 12 years old.
He is brilliant but he sucks one of his left fingers. It's usually annoying to me.
So what should I do

Matured parents advise please

Keep calling his consciousness to it without abusing or shaming him.
Tell him he's growing into a man, and needs to stop it, otherwise, he might become a grown man someday that still sucks his finger.

If you make a big deal out of it then he’ll probably get anxious and need to do it more to comfort himself. People grow out of these self soothing methods. I use to chew my hair, and my sleeves when I was younger. I use to get in soo much trouble for chewing my the sleeves because I made holes in my tops but that didn’t stop me. I stopped doing it by puberty. Kids do weird ish. Please don’t obsess about it because you’ll only give him a complex about it.

I don't think I sucked my finger but I don't if my wife did. Thank you very much

This dentition does not still stop women from coveting and marrying him.

I never saw a grown person suck fingers...


By the time his testosterone levels starts getting high and he starts eyeing some babes only him will advise himself to stop.

I don't even see this as a big deal anymore... by the time his friends and age mates start embarrassing him when they start forming big dapper boys he would stop on his own accord and volition!
