The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has promised to intervene in the travails of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, whose bank accounts were frozen by the Federal Government.

Igboho, accompanied by his supporters, visited Ladoja at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday, where both men held a 40-minute meeting.

A statement from Igboho’s media office on Wednesday said discussions centred on insecurity in the South-West, bandit attacks in parts of Kwara State, and Igboho’s lingering issues with the Federal Government.

“The Olubadan promised to intervene on the challenges faced by Igboho, including his designation as a wanted person and the embargo placed on his bank accounts,” [/b]the statement read in part.

[b]It would be recalled that in 2021, the Department of State Services, backed by soldiers, raided Igboho’s Soka residence in Ibadan, killing two of his aides and arresting 13 others, after accusing him of stockpiling arms.

During the visit, Igboho congratulated Ladoja on his ascension to the throne, describing him as a leader loved across Ibadan and Yorubaland. He also expressed readiness to work with the Federal Government to strengthen security in the region.

“Olubadan has been a father figure to me since his time as governor.

His reign will no doubt further promote peace, unity, and development in Ibadanland and Yorubaland,” Igboho said.

It is not accurate to say Sunday Igboho has "dropped his fight" simply because his voice is not as loud as before. Every struggle goes through phases, and leadership sometimes shifts from direct confrontation to strategic caution. His original stance was to defend Yoruba communities from unchecked violence, not to wage war against any ethnic group.

On the matter of Fulani victims in Kwara, we should also be careful not to confuse identity. Kwara State is a multi-ethnic state with Yoruba, Fulani, Nupe, Baruba, and others. Not all Fulani residents in Kwara automatically become Yoruba because they live there, just as not all Yoruba living in the North suddenly become Hausa-Fulani. Yoruba identity is cultural and ancestral, not merely geographical.

The real issue is justice for all victims of insecurity, regardless of whether they are Yoruba, Fulani, or any other ethnic group. The conversation should therefore move beyond ethnic labels and ask why the government has failed to protect all citizens equally. Blaming Sunday Igboho alone oversimplifies a complex national security failure.

Father Mbaka is right, the problem we have in Igbo land are the political elites empowered by Hausa-Fulani political ruling class like Hopeless Uzodinma and co.


The difference here is that majority of ordinary Igbos support Nnamdi Kanu while the political elites despise him for trying to expose their corruption and failures.


On the other hand, majority of ordinary Yorubas despise Sunday Igboho while some Yoruba political elites love Sunday Igboho and have been truly protecting and helping him.

There's no moral justification for Sunday Igboho to be walking free while Nnamdi Kanu remains incarcerated. Things like these only fuel ethnic resentments in the already fragile country. The president of a country must be seen to "hate" everyone equally even if by pretense.

He has always been right about their plans and that's why they want to keep him in limbo for life. He warned about all these as far back as 2015 when APC seized power but we Nigerians vilified him and today we pay the price.
There is no more distinction between igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Christian, Muslim. We are paying a very costly price and would pay more because these devils ain't smiling. Human life is just a small sacrifice to whatever gods they serve.
