Atiku came second in the election and Obi came a distant 3rd. I am yet to see Hausa/Fulani or Atiku himself attacking other tribes over the loss. Unfortunately, Obi and his deranged mob believe the winning playcard is to insult, bully, harass and intimidate other tribes for not rolling over to their side.

Commonsense dictates that you should learn from the mistakes of your predecessors during the Biafra war. Unfortunately, another army of ignoramus have come of age and they are failing to understand that politics is a game of numbers, collaboration and warm handshakes Northward and Westward of the River Niger.

The year 2027 is not far but the likely outcome of the election is glaring.......PETER OBI would NOT and SHALL NEVER be the President of Nigeria.

Do LASTMA require a court order to impound an errant driver's car?

It is up to the developers to seek redress in court after being served a demolition order.

Did they go to court to halt LASG from carrying out their development control duties?

Even in the west, especially the over regulated US and UK construction sector, a county can halt any development based on several infractions and order a demolition wish the errant developer will be billed for the demolition and environmental sanitation carried out on the site.

Government can act without a court order if you are in flagrant abuse of their regulatory laws.

All land belongs and controlled by state government regardless whether it is allocated to the FG…..the commissioner of information gave a comprehensive explanation about that and quoted the section of the constitution that gives govt the legal backing which is why the state government are the ones issuing certificate of occupancy and not FG, that’s why Most of you traders will continue to fall victim and unfortunately for you clowns, there is no ignorance in law undecided

Obi wrong on Trade Fair Complex

Ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has visited the Trade Fair Complex where Lagos State Government enforced its Physical Planning Laws.
He praised the traders for what he called their “restraint”, adding that the buildings that were knocked down had approvals.
He launched into emotional theatrics, describing the incident as “a test of impunity, justice and compassion” - all in an effort to mislead the public by misinformation and disinformation. This is unfair.
Here are the facts of the matter: The owners of the building have no approval. They got ample time to regularise their papers when the state government declared last year a general amnesty, which was extended several times. The owners shunned the offer. When Physical Planning officials visited the complex, the gates were locked against them; they were beaten up. The police rescued them. When the government called the owners for talks, they said they would not come; they did not come.

Their defence is that the Management Board of the Trade Fair permitted them to build their structures. This is wrong. The board, which is a creation of the Federal Government to manage the complex, does not have powers to approve or regulate building developments within the complex independent of Lagos State Government. Physical Planning and building approvals are within the remit of State Governments. Under the Nigerian Urban and Regional Planning Act (1992, as domesticated by Lagos State’s Physical Planning and Development Regulations), all physical development in any part of Lagos must obtain planning permit/approval from the Lagos State Government through its Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

This position was further clarified and reinforced by The Supreme Court judgment of 2003 (Attorney-General of Lagos State v. Attorney-General of the Federation) that land use and physical planning fall under concurrent jurisdiction, and states retain the authority to regulate development control within their territories, including federal lands, except for core areas like military formations or exclusive federal enclaves.

The Trade Fair Complex Board may manage leases, tenancies, and commercial activities, but any construction, alteration, or development still requires Lagos State planning permit. Otherwise, such developments would be deemed illegal under state law, and the Lagos State Government has the power to seal or demolish them.
In other words, the Management Board can allocate spaces and give administrative consent, but building approvals must pass through Lagos State Government.
We must decide the kind of society we want - one governed by law or one run by emotions, fueled by political interests.

Their Pride and arrogance is usually their undoing. I suspect such would have been suggested in light of the usual practice of omoluabi unless an overridding infrastructural need or they want to clear a slum due security and safety concerns from immediate neighbors.

I remember an incident with omonile that almoruf of blessed memory adviced you negotiate and not fight when you know you need paperwork from them.

They assumed that being a complex formerly owned by FG that the land has soveroghty above the original and eternal land owner - Lagos State.

They think that the property was an island akin to the Vatican .

The refused to get the mandatory approval to effect a building from LASG thusdenying the state of revenue and oversight functions as per building safety codes.

By arrogantly refusing to regularise the properties , they were denying the state government of revenue that would have accrued from tenement rates.

They asked they were above the state government and laws of the land.

That is to show you how lawless they are and how girigori operates in the same orbit of lawlessness that he inserted himself as their chief advocate.
