FDJ was carded early in the first half so he had to be careful with his tackles and pressing to avoid a second yellow, Olmo couldn't offer support as he's more of a AM and is also a weakling Pedri was the one mostly trying to press, tackle and offer an outlet through passes to the wing to rashford then FDJ, if we had Fermin with his energy it could have been a better story in the second half in the midfield, remember we were mostly with playing two against three, if the midfield is suffocated how the hell do the wingers and striker want to see ball to attack easily?

Same thoughts here...... Their squad depth gave them the upper hand. And they were physically in a better place than us. It was obvious we gassed out in the last 20 mins.

We also need to start talking about Cubarsi. He's just not it. We've probably overpraised and overhyped the lad. But he's been bang average in recent games.

Eric Garcia was far better the best defender on the pitch last night despite the fears of many showing cynicism. The rest let the team down.

I'm just pained we missed Fermin Lopez last night. But we move..... The better team won and they absolutely deserved the win. Better this humbling came now early and we see and correct our mistakes than it resurfacing in the knockout stages like last season.

This Gavi long time off just spoils things. I'm hoping Laporta and Deco are quickly working on something to add a couple of juice to the squad in January. Cos like this ehn..... We're skirting dangerous levels of drop off if we keep overstretching some players like Pedri and the injuries needs to be controlled.
But we've played better as a team this season as opposed to last season where we were dependent on key players like Lamine.

There's still a dependency in midfield with Pedri. This is the reason why I think Flick just relegating Casado to the sub role is a flawed thinking. Casado has lost rhythm and can't be compared to perform regularly like a player like De Jong who's rewarded minutes after minutes.

Too early to bank on Bernal for now and hope for a quick recovery and integration for him to the team.

That high line was just vexing me..... Imagine still keeping that high line when it was obvious PSG has out-muscled the midfield.

I dey see Garcia and Cubarsi for center line during 70-something minutes. I was just shouting and complaining throughout what was the defence doing that high up the pitch.

Flick is just very stubborn with his system. His late subs was also to blame. Enrique just outfoxed him.

Ive said it before and I'm reiterating that the issue at the back isn't personnel but tactical. Even if you have prime Pique and Puyol you'll still suffer unless it's against Madrid or other Laliga teams. I hear people saying they miss Inigo for these kind of games but he was on the pitch when Barca shipped 7 goals against Inter last season. Even if you sign Batsoni and pair him with Christensen, if the high line remains, you'll still struggle defensively.

It's 90mins against the best team in Europe, why are you still playing highline? Flick should be blamed for whatever is happening at the back. The highline is the problem.

I wanted to slap Flick so bad after seeing this high line minutes after minutes since the 70th minute.

This is one of the reasons we'll not be UCL Champions this season. Man doesn't know when to retreat and protect your interests.
There's an adage of "live to fight another day"..... But for Flick, man doesn't understand that concept.

There's some teams where this thing can't work against or you'll narrowly escape through sheer luck or excellent performance and your opposition being inferior to you.

PSG is in that phase of Atletico Madrid of old, where those wereys could defend for 120 mins back to back without breaking a sweat.
With PSG, those guys can press and attack for the whole 90mins without issues.

What you don't understand is Enrique works with systems just same way as Flick. Just not as rigid.
The system doesn't necessarily rely on individual players. It doesn't rely on individual brilliance. It works with teamwork and good team dynamics where players of different qualities bring comparative advantage over others and complement each other.

That way you won't notice a notable quality difference even with some key players missing.

That's why it's called a system. You can build any decent player into an elite player in his position because of this particular system.

This is a reason why Raphinha who suffered under Xavi now looks world class in just a season. This is why Ferran Torres is flourishing despite his signature misses.

The system works because you look at each player's individual quality and look at a playing style that maximises his biggest trait.
Remove some players from that system and they'll look ordinary and "useless".

This is one of the reason why I don't shout much anymore any time I see Gerrard Martin on the pitch. It's the main reason why Flick has confidence in him, cos he trusts in his system to complement and help a player focus on the basics he's good at while other teammates cover his weaknesses. And you could easily see the improvement to Martin's gameplay this season.

It looks basic but it works almost all the time if implemented well unless you face a comparatively superior and determined side, before such a system can fail.

It's the reason why De Jong works sometimes and looks like he's in his best form since joining Barca. Na wetin dey deceive people be that.

There are players you don't touch in the team no matter what and Pedri is one of them. There's a reason Vitinha played the whole 90 mins despite getting a minor injury last weekend. Flick, just like Luis de La Fuente hasn't learnt the lesson of keeping Pedri in the game especially when the situation is tight. When Newcastle scored a goal against us, it was like they wanted to run wild in the dying minutes, but Pedri made sure it didn't happen by keeping possession of the ball. Remove Pedri, then you'll realise that Barca don't have anything in midfield. DeJong, Fermin and Olmo can't control any game without Pedri.

I hope Flick learns from last night's loss.

No manager starts Dejong if Pedri is the other option. Xavi dropped Dejong in favour of Pedri in some games. Pedri is 1milion times better than Dejong and I actually don't think it's close sef. Barca didn't play well overall but between Pderi and Dejong, it's clear who was better yesterday.
