Dangote refinery has been in operation as far back as 2017-2018 even before the start of oil production. I was similàlry employed as a procurement officer in 2019 but did not resume because I already had a job as a lecturer. I was interviewed with others in his budillion building by an Indian/or Lebanese. Recently, a lady we hàd the interview together and accepted the job joined me in academics. So the dañgote refinery has been in operation since especially employing people with engineering backgrounds as far back as 2017-2018. |

Kanixt:You need a name so you will go tell your papa to sack him too. I am telling you my name now, i have worked there before during COVID, and I was paid just N290K before I resigned and left. The Indian Engineer whom i replaced was earning millions monthly. I can't be collecting peanuts. I still know some of the staff there working for Dangote directly, and they are suffering seriously. Most of you will just come online to write rubbish. because you all wish your fellow Nigerians to suffer. Have you not asked yourself why Dangote keep employing unprofessional poor looking drivers to drive his trucks and be killing Nigerians on a daily basis? Do you see those truck drivers as well paid people? continue fanning evil you hear. |

datola:You are right they dont reciev up to that amount but they earn as high as $5000 for a senior engineer role. while the Nigerian engineers are struggling with N200K to N500K. plus the indians are feed and their flight is paid by company no cap. |

xxxx999jon:my sibling was one of such affected,it's quite sad really when you treat citizens unfairly while you hold foreigners to high esteem.Similar thing happened at Huawei company in Nigeria where Chinese citizens are prioritized to the detriment of Nigerians. As a Nigerian company I think dangote should do better. The company should be the pride of the black race and Nigeria in particular |

DaddyJapan:Bros, after all said and done,I can only tell you that the best hands will seek the best offers in every industry. If you have built a flawed reputation in Human Capital management you will eventually have to pay for it with a dearth in skilled hires. Skilled Labour is very fluid. Companies outdo themselves in seeking out the best hands for a role. I could mention here that I have been part of a process where a company has recruited a very tested hand simply because they did not want the competition to hire him. Your best bet in this life is to develop yourself as much as you can. By so doing you strengthen your negotiation capacity which will in turn help others coming after you. By the way I don't wish to know where you have been/worked just like I would never flaunt my professional/career antecedence here. It's an anonymous public forum. |

UrbaneHR:Stepping stones to where ? If you contribute to the growth of the company, is it not fair that the company also contributes to your welfare and career growth? Why are some of you so insensitive! If Dangote can run his company the way he chooses, does it apply to other companies too ? Consider the revenue generated by the efforts of these guys, and the hazards related to the job, most of them are dying of illness they know nothing bout for now, but will reflect later. They're exposed to harmful gases and explosions everyday, just one explosion can kill 100 people. What is the compensation to Thier family ![]() |

Lakeside247:They are thinking Dangote is a saviour, let him achieve what he wants by not being regulated first, all his staff will begin to see maximum shege, the ones happening is just small, premium is coming. Then it will be extended to us Nigerians. It's getting there already, they also want to control the retailing, then the shege will come, whatever price he determines is what we will be forced to buy. Someone that wanted to prevent other marketers from importing petrol and wanted other marketers to be buying from him. They now wrote a press statement saying 'in the interest of Nigerians ' loool and some are falling for it. Same way some gullible people believed petrol will be 400naira once the refinery starts working, so he will sell at a loss abi. Nigerians can be very gullible honestly. |

iceking4:It's still boils down to the freewill we all have. Government is the greatest revenue generator in this country. How much do the y pay? You see bros....I am advocate of people paying well but that is a function of relativity. I have worked in many places and in different roles/capacities. Personally I find negotiations for upward review of salaries rather tiring. The company only pays you what the perceived is your value to the system. If you feel you are undervalued, notify them and leave. Trust me you would have helped more people than carrying placards and negotiating. If a good hand leaves a company it's usually a reason for reviewing reward. |

This is just like the poor working conditions in Presco PLC, Obaretin Estate, Edo State. The salaries and allowances of the workers are heavily taxed. They have ceremonial Union which does not even bark let alone bite. Union due is deducted monthly from workers salaries by defunct. It's so annoying. An average work there especially the junior staff and contract workers are heavily suffering and forced to smile except one wants to be sacked. The conditions there ain't even bad but worse. Expatriates are treated like lords while Nigerians especially the junior staff are highly despised. |

na real unpatriotic behaviour. NASS should look at it but they are busy receiving bribes but the man should come clean if na INDIANS really get interest for the refinery after the support nigeria government give am. ![]() Lakeside247: |

Same Dangote that was saying imported fuel is bad for their cars. Only is own fuel is the purest. Whereas he just wants to monopolize the market. Nigerians have been using imported fuel for ages and we didn't die. If Dangote refinery cannot compete with imported fuel, then he should get out. He wants to be the sole distributor of fuel in Nigeria just like his friend Otedola did with imported Diesel. |

Dangote is just the richest man but his workers are more poorer. |

TheBizGenius:it's true, most of the Indians doesn't know anything, an Indian Man with just diploma, will be earning upto $3k while you as an engineer earns 300k, it's crazy my brother. the engineers are even the one supervising them. |

LUAN1:So, do you mean to say that, that's the amount they pay to every Indian Working in Dangote refinery? |
| Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by TheBizGenius: 4:49pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
LUAN1:Truthfully, I empathize with your point of view that the Nigerian engineers are good, or even better. But let me say this here once and for all, THE NIGERIAN ENGINEERS ARE NOT BETTER. The problem is with our engineering curriculum. The way we are trained here, as engineers, does not meet international standards. Note: We know the basics but we don't "really" know it correctly. The Indians probably have the correct practical facilities to get properly trained in their own country. And when you have an expensive equipment, like a N4m Samsung phone, who do you take it to for repairs; a. Samsung office that charges you N1m b. One computer village table top guy that asks for just N200k? Both of them sabi repair the phone but you, as the owner, you go fit risk am? |
| Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by LUAN1: 6:30pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
sammyscholar:some earned as low as $3k while some earned above $20k |
| Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by LUAN1: 6:35pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
TheBizGenius:you didn't get my point, this is a different example you are giving, which is different from operating a refinery. there are good engineers in the refinery bro. they can operate the refinery very well, they know which valve to open and which valve close. and engineer that will give an Indian man directive on which valve to open or close earned lesser than the Indian man that' knows only how to open valve without knowing why he opened the valve. |
| Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by sammyscholar(m): 8:18pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
LUAN1:So why was it not reported this way? If we don't ask the right questions, people will just post what they like and create confusions that is not necessary. Do you know their are some Nigerians who earn so high in that same Refinery? |
| Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by sammyscholar(m): 8:19pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
LUAN1:Lol, na to operate am. Can they build it? "Which valve to open and which valve to close". They said they taught the Indians. Na so. |
| Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by TheBizGenius: 8:33pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
sammyscholar:That is why I kept quiet and couldn't reply oooo. Na so car mechanic for naija go dey do patch patch for your car and they can teach their oyinbo counterparts on that. But to create the car and understand why it's working that way theoretically, dem no sabi. At least me wey I dey talk na mechanical engineering I do for first degree and na flywheel for train and old 504 car we take study for school workshop to graduate. Do you think I will trust a Nigerian mechanical engineer with my Ferrari? Olorun maje!! Fire burn devil!! |

obitrac:Yes the company should do better on that ..I totally agree..where I have problem is fallacy.. mixing lies with truth..that won't go with me ..yes there are companies that such practices is happening and they should be called out ..be it Dangote refinery or Huawei..no one should prioritize foreigners over locals if they are of saw work output..that's why we have ministry of labor etc so many institutions should step up ..not just the fleecing unions. |
