lets assume the salary is minimum 500k per month

that is 6m per year

that is 800 workers x 6m - 4800m per year as salary
roughly 5 billion

so dangote offered to dash away 25 billion naira or 16,666,666 million dollars

only the uneducated twats who have never actually run a business will believe this ridiculous lamba

and 500k is what low level contract workers are earning in the industry

so salaries should be higher than this - though then again - this is dangote who is trying to pay people peanuts
The fact that you have run a business does not mean you know everything concerning business management.

The payment was not going to be one bulk payment but bullet payments staggered over 60 months therefore it is doable because the money will come from future profits!

he can't even pay that for 5yrs. Am sure he can pay for 6 or 12month then stop the payment with some fishy excuses, even if he stop paying them at 6month no body will protest since they are ko ore working with him. He is just trying to play smart reason those pengaswng or whatever reject it. Had they accept that offer and dangote stop paying after a year, won't those ex worker implicate pengasang.

They must be earning peanuts for him to make such an offer to them. If they were earning 500k and above, he won't date make such an offer. 500k X 12 X 800 workers = ₦4,800,0000,000

That's a scam! Dangote is a confirmed Scammer!!
No one can pay 800 people salary for 5years while they sit at home.
Even the Government of Nigeria cannot do that.
Dangote is a very cunning man and this is just one of his whims.
You people will come back here to lament that I said so...
Poverty mindset spotted.
When you invest 20B$ employ staff that are will to run down your industry.

Lol, $16m "dash" spread over 5 years is what is hard for Dangote?

$16m to ensure an investment that is now worth over $14billion continues in peace and is not ruined...una funny sha.

Anyway, the man is stingy, but even he did an interview where he admitted his private jet cost him $30m or so. Yearly maintenance of it will probably be like $3-5m a year.

The refineries in the country are not working, then PENGASSAN want to sabotage the only refinery that's working in Nigeria?

Nobody is going to accept that.

Oga if you have never worked for a big institution, let those who have comment.

I have seen in my experience a financial institution that paid salaries for 6 months after letting more than 300 people go...it was so easy for them that the next day they had recruited 300 "children" to start from where the previous 300 left!!

Obviously customers of the institution suffered for it and were given the usual lies of network failure and IT challenges, not knowing it was self inflicted because an oga in HR got angry.

Just rechecked, the company I refer to is only worth $1bn , Dangote refinery is easily worth over $14bn... honestly if only more Nigerians could visit the place and understand what has been created.
Your head get better engine wey dey run am.

How much is N25bn to secure your investment on long term?

For comparison, NUPENG, as being rumored, would be making N120k/trip on each of Aliko's trucks. That's 4, 000 × 120, 000 = N480m. If each truck operates 4× a month, that is N2bn/month or N25bn in just 1 year.

If you were Aliko, won't you rather pay N25bn one-time to get rid of NUPENG through letting the staff go rather than pay the union N25bn every year?

You sef think am well naahhhh.

PS
I know this issue is a PENGASSAN issue but I wanted to use a clear example of how you can quickly call in your finance department to give you the best advice moving forward.

People with professional certifications in accounting will understand what I said better.

I supported Dangote offered to pay the sacked workers for five years to continue to stay in their homes, or do other things, but they will be paid every month for five years. But they will not be allowed to go near the refinery, because they are not sure of not sabotaging. So, Dangote offered to pay them without work.
Dangote got money from Nigeria to build that refinery or not ?
Junior or mid level staffs should’ve taken the money
Move on with your life ASAP
It’s senior staffs I pity
Dangote will employ more Indians as usual

Elon Musk hasn't finished repaying the loan he used to buy Twitter, and he is worth $500bn

The Glazer family, for almost 20 years have not finished repaying the loan they used to buy Man United.

I now agree with the poster above who earlier said you have no idea what it takes to run a proper corporation.

All this won't cost him 50 million usd.
You mean $50 million will just go down the drain without equivalent production? Even Elon Musk won't agree to that.

You want to compare Elon Musk who is running a tech unicorn with investors throwing money at him to dangote who is running a refinery which is normally a loss leading enterprise?

A refinery earning in naira while paying dollar based loans?

You did not see the same dangote scrambling and chasing nnpc for equity?

The same dangote who admitted that this enterprise almost bankrupted him?

You really know very little.

You are the kind of mumu he would love to employ. You would jump at the fake offer with both hands.

@Glorious Gbola

I don't know why the bot had to hide your response.

Anyway brother, give it a rest, the fact that you need to resort to personal abuses clearly shows you know you mispoke intially on your claims.

It's allowed, at least you even made an attempt to compute the financial impact which makes it clearer to us with actual experience that it is quite doable (though I do think anyone that says he'd stop half way through also has a point, as no one would bother to check him on it).

As for your quip on him begging NNPC, we all know he was happy that they failed to meet their obligation and he took their share offering back (from 20% down to 7.5%).... wherever Mele Kyari is, I hope he continues to suffer untold hardship for always thinking about himself first and not Nigeria.

By the way, the jet was actually $50 million.

If anyone is familiar with my post history on this refinery, for years I was angry and chided Dangote for hiring Indians and using most of the dollars he got from Emefiele to be paying them stupid salaries. (I knew this because I had a friend who was one of the early people their and she told me how the Indians and Chinese were enjoying).

Obviously, the refinery starts working later, we've got the best fuel and the best fuel situation we've had since before the Abacha years...and finally we are starting to feel it's effect on FX, which was always the aim for supporting it.

Unfortunately, the mafia hits back and my Nigerian brothers fall my hand and prove why they were never to be trusted in the first place!

For most of us mere Nigerians who are just onlookers, it is important that nothing happens to that refinery and we don't go back to the dark days of people looking for "dollar" to import petrol that God has naturally given us in crude oil.

When Nigerians chose to get sense again, Dangote (or whoever owns it then) will welcome them back, as it only makes business sense to seek cheaper labour.

If only they (or their type of organisation) would use their strength for the betterment of all Nigerians, and not just themselves or their members, we'd go far in this country.

You have a point but they won't, they expect weak NLC and TUC to do that.
One thing I know is that: anything that touches the crude oil, touches the corrupt leaders and their supporters. Outside that, no headway for anybody to hear the cry of the poor masses of this country.
