fiercehillz:You are 100% correct. They are just building a road to link with the coastal highway so that Edo State indigenes can access it (since it is close by) This is what many people here are failing to understand. |

DeepSight:It's not. The Coastal Railway, which was the initial idea before Tinubu came with his own, was meant to pass through Edo though. So I'm sure Edo folks would have felt cheated if the new arrangement had excluded them. I still hope and pray they include the train track. They don't even mention it anymore, just the road. |

If Tinubu finish this, let another president include rail way network on d Road. This will cause continuity and will ease alot of stress. Gradually there will be North-south separation. The North is feeling Isolated already with their banditry and boko boys |

DeepSight:strictly speaking assuming There were no states in Nigeria and the whole country is one unit or administered on the basis of Regions that existed in 1960 at independence, or Bendel state sill existed where would be the limit for it not to be "coastal " Is coastal a definition based on geographical principle or administrative units like states I do not agree or disagree with you just trying to understand what is the meaning of the word coastal |

givedemwotowoto:I hope when the road is finally completed, you will avoid passing through it, when there is need for you to use it. |

DeepSight:Whether you are a Lagosian or not doesn't matter, what matters is for you to have experienced the leadership of Lagos state compared to other states. As someone who witness the transformation of Lagos state, the introduction of LAWMA and waste management exercise is something that saved Lagos from epidemics. The digital payment system with control that monitor the revenue system and eventually boost it is a miracle am yet to see in other states and the FG. Now look at the determination that was driven into the Metrolane that many believe is a mirage is something a sincere mind must appreciate. These and many other things are reason some of us are supporting Tinubu and his government. Now talking about Federalism that you said Tinubu killed, let me ask you which of the governor or anyone smong the opposition leaders that exhibit traces of federalism while in power. Let me remind you that Tinubu in created additional LG which was later converted to LDCA and empowered it to function up till today. Tell me any of the governor or the opposition leader that can rival his democratic record. Many of you are not sincere in playing opposition and it's so sickening |

fiercehillz:Correct and not surprising at all because this is what happens when a State is directly affiliated with the ruling Party and able to lobby the FG aggressively for infrastructure projects. |
| Re: FG Extends Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway To Edo by U09ce: 5:51pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
This road project would end up a south west coastal road, with some kilometers of roads in different states that might eventually not connect each other. I think the biggest victims are the south south people. They should go and beg Tinubu that he use the money meant for the coastal road to build the coastal railway. The proposed railway is more realistic because it's quite inland connecting the big cities of the region. Any one who knows how the creeks of Delta,Bayelsa and Rivers look like would tell you how mightily difficult it is to build a road there. The Lagos coast is nothing compared to that terrain. |

dederocs:We are not talking about the ancient Benin Kingdom. The map below shows Edo State as of today - 2025. It is not along the coast.

dederocs:Bro, no need for this. We are living in an Information age. Edo is not a Coastal State of Nigeria speaking strictly according to States having direct shoreline access to the Atlantic Ocean which then defines them accurately as coastal State of Nigeria. It is as simple as that.

DomPerignon:I am an architect by training, and also a contractor. From experience, I know this is not how projects are executed. No project requires continuously “going back to the drawing board.” You cannot keep returning to the design stage every time you receive an epiphany or new inspiration. Yes, it is normal to make variations to a project design—usually to address unforeseen challenges on site or to implement slight modifications to the original plan. But you don’t fundamentally change the design at every phase of the project. That is not how professional project execution works. What makes this particular project even more troubling is its extreme secrecy. We are not even allowed to see the original design before these so-called variations are introduced. As my friend Deepsight put it, this is a project without any real foundation: no disclosed design, no budget, no Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), no community participation, no Request for Proposals (RFP), no tenders, no progress reports, no legislative oversight—nothing. Everything is shrouded in secrecy. All we ever hear are official statements from the Minister of Works and other government representatives, but no transparent process, documentation, or accountability accompanies them. |
