There are hybrid cars abound in Nigeria. In my opinion, hybrid cars are becoming obsolete since Nigerians started accepting EVs |

aderadio1:Hello, Great question. Since you mentioned the Lexus RX400h, here’s a professional breakdown to guide your decision: ⸻ ✅ Strengths of the RX400h • Fuel Savings in Traffic – The hybrid system performs well in Nigerian city traffic, saving fuel at low speeds. • Comfort & Quality – As expected of Lexus, the RX400h delivers a smooth, quiet ride with premium interior quality. • Shared Parts Availability – Many suspension and body parts are the same as RX330/RX350, which are already common in Nigeria. ⸻ ⚠️ Things to Watch Out For 1. Hybrid Battery Condition – The RX400h is an older model (mid-2000s). Battery packs may already be weak, and replacement is expensive. Always confirm battery health before buying. 2. Hybrid Electronics & Inverter – Known issues include inverter coolant leaks and water intrusion, which can be costly to repair. 3. Transmission & Cooling System – These can develop leaks if not properly maintained. 4. Limited Hybrid Service Support – Not all mechanics are trained to handle hybrids. Make sure you have access to a workshop familiar with Lexus/Toyota hybrids. 5. Resale Market – Hybrids are still gaining awareness in Nigeria, so resale value depends on proper documentation and battery health. ⸻ 🔍 What to Check Before Shipping • Request a battery health report from the seller. • Confirm there are no hybrid warning lights. • Inspect for coolant leaks and water damage. • Review the full service history and mileage. ⸻ 🎯 Our Verdict The RX400h can be a solid choice for Nigeria if: • You drive frequently in city traffic where fuel efficiency pays off. • You have access to hybrid-capable service centers. • The car you’re importing has a clean history and a strong battery. If you live in flood-prone areas or want cheaper maintenance, a petrol RX330 or RX350 might be a safer alternative. ⸻ 💡 At Ryan Automotive Limited, we provide: • Vehicle import advisory & cost guidance • Pre-purchase inspections (including hybrid battery health checks) • Professional servicing & maintenance for Lexus/Toyota models • Clearing and documentation support at Nigerian ports 📍 Lagos, Nigeria 📞 +234 911 306 9560 📧 ryanautomotivelimited@gmail.com Feel free to reach out — we’ll be glad to support you with your RX400h or any other vehicle project. |
