I don't know why so many Nigerians seem to think there's only one problem with Nigeria. The reality is that there are many problems with Nigeria. Corruption is one of them. Likewise incompetence and also our political structure amongst others.

Local govt are not states. France taxes citizens highly but their income is ok.

9ja needs about 9 to 10 regions. With premiers. Regional ministers should already be elected members of the Regional parliament. So, you get ministerial/commissioner position only after being already elected as an MP. So for being a minister/commissioner, your MP income could increase by 50% for additional responsibilities, nothing more. No new retinue of political appointees. We must create an efficient political system considering we have little money relative to population. So, states and local councils can really work locally to provide local services people need.

FG should focus on national security, armed forces, national currency/central banking, Federal crime, foreign affairs, etc.

Including the myopia and selflessness of Rewane who has not used his clout to get his own senator and representative to lobby other members of the NASS, to include consolidation of the 36 states in the five amendments to the 1999 Constitution that have been passed in the last 26 years of return to democracy.

Since he has failed in the last 26 years with the five amendments, he should work on his senator and representative not to miss the opportunity of the ongoing 6th amendment for the realisation of his consolidation dream.

Nigerians are too used to managing inadequate resources. Na curse?

Let's imagine Nigeria as a business entity.

Would you be thinking of;
A. Adding more managers if it would generate more income
B. Reducing the number of managers because you want to manage the income you have currently?

Your choice would depend on your personal orientation towards management for optimum results.

Nigeria needs "MORE ADMINISTRATORS" but we just need "BETTER ADMINISTRATORS" who are actually skilled in projects that bring in humongous income.

Nigeria can't afford 10 states.any of the states are like abandoned factories that become liabilities.

He should give this advice to the UK with its small landmass. He somehow forgot to compare our population to California. What did he do with minimum wage in late fPMB's government? All these talks professionals.

However, Nigeria is not California and the political milieu is different as well.

We all can't be demanding for the creation of personal "empires" until every village and hamlet becomes a state.

What Nigeria needs presently is committed, dedicated, visionary and selfless leadership who can transform all parts of Nigeria to the glory of God and humanity.

Clannish leadership is a bane and must be jettisoned.

State Governors, in particular, must see all parts of their States as one irrespective of tribal differences.

The-winner-takes all mindset is the root cause for the agitation for more and more state creation.

I dont believe this, the Best caption for this Topic is Nigerian Cannot afford the money stolen by these public office holders. How can a senator be getting N14m for a month and a our minimum wage is N70k. All these public office holders should also be placed on a Salary scale and any caught stealing should be hang to death.

You know when one has not tasted a thing, it would seem that his body resents it. He has tasted the highest power and have seen that he can't afford true federalism as that would make his office look like a mere portfolio/ figurehead. He was quick to remove subsidy that he preached against but doesn't want to implement true federalism that he has always preached.

He's correct...36 states means 36 Houses of Assembly.

Do you know how much money they gulp from the state resources? Plus bicameral legislature where we have both the Senate and House of Representatives......the constitution needs to be amended otherwise it will be difficult for Nigeria to work.

The others will say such but when you put them there, they will tell you different things again and how it's not easy to implement such.


The problem with Nigeria is that we truly lack people who are thinkers and who can bring about innovative development from out of nothing.

Imagine, a country where crdue oil is mined, exported raw, and import refined products.
