Tinubu Highlights Religious Tolerance: ‘I’m Muslim, My Wife Is a Pastor, Yet We Live in Harmony’ President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and unity regardless of their religious backgrounds, stressing that faith should foster harmony rather than division. Eyes Of Lagos reports, Speaking on Saturday in Jos, Plateau State, during the funeral service of Mrs. Lydia Yilwatda, mother of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, the president emphasized that God’s will is absolute and that all people ultimately serve the same Almighty. “Whatever God has ordained will surely come to pass. His will and prophecies stand above all else,” Tinubu remarked. The president drew from his personal life to illustrate interfaith tolerance, revealing that while he is a devoted Muslim, his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a Christian pastor. Despite their differing religious beliefs, he said, their marriage has remained peaceful and united. “I was born into Islam, and I have never abandoned it. My wife is a pastor, and she prays for me daily. We have never had any conflict over faith. I have never tried to convert her, and she has never tried to change me. That is the true meaning of respect and tolerance,” he said. Tinubu stressed that Nigeria can achieve greater unity when citizens focus on shared values such as love, good character, and service to humanity, instead of allowing religion to divide them. “I believe in the freedom of religion. We all pray to the same God and will answer to Him on the final day. What matters most are our actions, our compassion, and how we treat others—not the religious path we follow,” the president added. Paying tribute to the late Lydia Yilwatda, Tinubu described her as a devout woman of faith, service, and sacrifice, while offering prayers for her eternal rest. https://eyesoflagos.com/tinubu-highlights-religious-tolerance-im-muslim-my-wife-is-a-pastor-yet-we-live-in-harmony/ cc: Mynd44 , Nlfpmod , Seun

They are talking about destroying Islamic Jihadist that have taken over all the bush in Nigeria and this one is talking about living with his wife in peace ..which Christian is not living in peace with his Muslim neighbors? This man doesn't even understand that kind of insecurity the country is facing? |

FarahAideed:Learn to put things in context. He was speaking anecdotally to attendees at the the funeral of the Mother of current APC national chairman. Should he start talking about terrorism, banditry and kidnapping at a private funeral ceremony? |

WizardOfNG:You don't fool no-one. That was a full-blown campaign in a funeral to appeal to the Northern christian bloc and to buy their support against his muslim-muslim ticket. |

alphonsojidebab:Religions are man made, the onus is on you to rise above religion slavery, only if you are rational human beings and you want to leave in peace. IF GOD HIMSELF ALLOW DIFFERENT RELIGIONS TO COME INTO EXISTENCE, TO WORSHIPING HIM, HOW MUCH LESS MERE MORTAL TO BE JUDGING, FIGHTING & KILLING FOR GOD, WHO HIMSELF ALLOWED IT, IS THAT NOT EVEN FOOLISHNESS ON THE PART OF SUCH PEOPLE? to make more worrisome, the religionS leaders that are telling the followers to against the second religion, doing that for their own selfish ends . |

AMINDA:Something is wrong with you. Am I trying to "fool" anyone or is it that I am balanced, objective, upright and can still be a completely normal human being when it appears that is more than can be said for you? So Tinubu no longer has the right to extol the virtues of the deceased at a Private funeral that has nothing to do with Nigeria's insecurity challenges? His time at the funeral, out of respect for the deceased and her mourners, is of course separated from events outside the funeral Service. Normal people would get that because death will happen to us all and our loved ones. Your desperation, on behalf of your beloved Atiku, is too much and too distatefully nauseating. You don't even appreciate how you sound. I.e like someone who has totally 'lost it'. Paying tribute to the late Lydia Yilwatda, Tinubu described her as a devout woman of faith, service, and sacrifice, while offering prayers for her eternal rest. |

![]() Madam Remi may be a christian but not a pastor. The pastor in her name is a ceremonial post given to her in the Redeem Church of God base on her fat tithes, offerings and donations in the house of God belonging to the daddy GO |
