A Nigerian lady has captured social media attention after sharing how she wooed her current boyfriend on X (formerly Twitter) some years ago.

Known online as @simplytee23, she revealed that despite feeling “shameless” at the time, her bold move paid off, and the couple is now approaching their three-year anniversary.

Her post included a screenshot of their first conversation, which has sparked mixed reactions online, with many users relating to her story and sharing similar experiences of making the first move in relationships.

In her viral tweet, @simplytee23 recounted how she started the conversation after her then-crush complimented her.

She admitted she was nervous about confessing her feelings, joking that she feared she would “trend on Twitter as the girl that loves at first text” if things went wrong.

“I kidd you not when I say this is exactly how it started (I’m shameless).😭✋🏽 We are celebrating 3 years together soon,” she wrote alongside the screenshot.

Following that initial chat, the pair exchanged numbers and continued talking, exploring their relationship further. She admitted:

“….I was scared if things go sideways I was gonna trend on Twitter as the girl that loves at first text😭😭😭 him posting the screenshots.”

Reflecting on the early stage of their relationship, she added:

“It really was…after that we exchanged numbers to talk about our relationship dynamics. Ngl was scared that we won’t be compatible, but God had other plans cause he gave me a best friend for life.”

This has to be fake. They’re both South Africans and their texts don’t go “I like you, mi ashala kambo,” to which he’ll reply “thank you. I think makagbo niya ka hanso also.” Miss me with all these stories.
