Please can Nlanders suggest to me what I should with this shop on my street that sold me a fake pepsodent toothpaste. The moment I opened it and pushed out the paste, I just knew it. The colours were blurred and paste was watery compared to the original with sharp colours and dry paste. I then settled down to compare it to the original on pepsodent's twitter page, that is when it dawned on me that I was just sold a fake product. I tried using it to brush and it did not foam, does not leave your mouth minty fresh as usual. This is clearly fake.

Can you please suggest what I do with this people. They also operate a drug store where I am sure they sell fake drugs to unsuspecting customers.

Mods please quickly push this to front page so I know what to do with this people on time.

You can report the issue to nafdac...

Through their websites or handles. However, I don't think anything positive would come out of it. And it's sad. Maybe I am wrong about. I hope I am.

Most government agencies in Nigeria have failed in their primary responsibilities of providing services to the citizens. They are hardly any bodies protecting customers and where they exist provide shabby services.

Anything goes in Nigeria. It's almost like a jungle. People just look the other way when things are not right or done properly because even the bureaucracy and process of reporting such to the appropriate channels is tiring and even frustrating. People have developed a thick skin and aren't even bothered about a lot of things anymore.

They just shrug and move on hoping on the next opportunity to make money and live their life.

The quality of life in Nigeria is really at it's lowest. A lot of things have gone really bad and a lot really needs to change.

Sometimes I wish I was in a better position to change some of these things. For now I can only play the part I can by highlighting some of these things that have gone wrong.

We really can't continue living like this as a people where even the least of the basic things to make life comfortable and meaningful are simply not there or at best non functional.

We have a long way to go as a country and people!

I don't think that's appropraite though...

They ought to be a body to investigate his claims. I don't think it's appropriate for him to post the shop and location on his own.

His responsibility is to report to the appropriate authority who should take it up from there!

The shop you bought it from probably bought it from a major distributor and should not be blamed for it. Recently, I bought a fake olive oil from a shop. I was shocked to see that the oil contained 95% of water. We are doomed in this country!

Re: Just Bought A Fake Toothpaste by Emekadollars(m): 7:28pm On Oct 06, 2025
I think some shop owners are just careless.

Some of these retailers out there cannot even different fake from original the products they sell to customers.

Many just want to survive by every means possible.

Exactly.
Last last report to nafdac and they will trace the producers or importers of the product.

Trash it and move on nothing you can do. I notice same here at times even it will be half full, company won't even inform customer if there is any change to there products, they only want person to decide on what to do with it.

There is absolutely nothing that’s doesn’t gave fake in Nigeria nowadays. Even beer especially from local bar.

Those big bar have original because their suppliers are from the company itself.

Shopping malls are better when buying products.
