I think the main issue here isn’t really the buildings themselves, but the paperwork behind them. If approvals had been obtained from the Lagos State Government as required by law, the demolitions wouldn’t have happened.

That said, government also has a responsibility to act earlier. Too often, enforcement comes after people have invested millions, which makes it feel unfair and harsh. Stronger monitoring and timely intervention could prevent these painful situations.

At the end of the day, we need a system where rules are respected and enforcement is proactive, not reactive. That way, both the law and people’s livelihoods are protected.

Destroyed what livelihood? Let's not lie to ourselves here to appear politically correct in public. Of course there will be cases of unscrupulous and corrupt LASG officials deliberately delivering planning consent commission they know are not approved became they contravene specific rules.

Yet, as someone who dabble in property development, I know those who do due diligence, and are not trying to circumvent building planning provisions for their own greedy pursuit, will 100% get legitimate LASG approved planning consent for their building projects and never fall victim of scammers to include those who officially work for Lagos Government.

The truth is that this is about the greed of Igbos, for material acquisition, that then drives their belief money and bribe of representatives of Government circumvents everything.

They then willingly get in bed with rogue LASG official knowing the risk yet ignoring such because of the huge financial rewards they are anticipating.

This is something I have never done let alone be making victim noise as Igbos alone are doing today shouting "wicked Yoruba agenda", over court-approved property demolition, as if they are innocent to begin with.

We're you on Mars when the 21 storey Tower that collapsed in Ikoyi, owned by Yoruba property developer Femi Osibona, led to a massive investigation that revealed Osibona had compromised original building plans giving consent for less floors of the Tower than the 21 he attempted to build?

When the unscrupulous antics of Osibona was revealed, which Yoruba did you see defending him and blaming rogue Lagos State officials when, as reasonable people Yorubas are, we understand the rule is always "Caveat emptor" i.e "buyers beware" in the case of those seeking building consent.

Read below to note how Osibona even threatened LASG building consent inspectors with Dog when they wanted to gain access to inspect ongoing work same as how Lagos insist your people beat up inspectors who showed up to enforce rulings the State has given ample notices over.

Stop the gaslighting and learn to curb greed, refrain from compromising set/clear building consent guidelines , plus follow due process, and you people will always be okay.

Don't do the wrong things, as I personally know you are fond of doing because of greed, such as selling fake drugs and drinks, to then begin playing victims

Yes,when the matter goes to court,the traders would most likely lose because land planning approvals may not have been got or some areas deficit.

.abi..in the first place when there were starting to build the houses ..why did the Lagos- state government stop the construction of the building at that particular time but not when one has already spent a lot of money on the building and completed the building and you just come to demolish it ..

you lot seem to have a big problem with comprehension even after the section of the law regarding land use and approval was cited….for your information all land belongs to state govt and it was clearly stated that even on federal allocated land, approval must be given by the state govt before and construction outside the initial approved plan given.

You lot in your desperation to buy property in Lagos so you can come online to chest beat about how you have bought all the land in Lagos which is a pure fallacy won’t do your diligence check before purchase or think you can buy your way out with money which is what most of you do and then when the govt come, you start to play the Victim. ...Trade fair Complex in Lagos is a federal govt.establishment not state .It's under the agency of FG and if anyone wants to get approval to build there ,he goes to federal government land Registry in Ikoyi not to Lagos govt.land Registry in Alausa

..Lagos state Commissioner for physical planning and Urban development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide lied that buildings are on the carnal .No building there is on drainage channel or on carnal .Trade fair Complex is not in the moon ,anybody can go there and see . 25th September 2025 was the first time they went there and the result was illegal demolition.

It's the federal government that gives approval for building in fed .lands not state and since 1995,fed. Govt.has been given approval for buildings in Trade fair Complex. Lagos state govt .has not given one approval for buildings there .

There is no concurrent jurisdiction . There are federal govt lands in all the states in Nigeria being managed by fed .housing authority not states and oversight functions is done by FG not state government.

.... Executive director of Trade fair Complex is shocked by that action . I'm an Estate Surveyor and A Valuer and a fellow so I know all about land ownership and land allocation and the process . It's the trade Fair management board that manages trade Fair complex not Lagos state government.

..Igbos in Lagos should be left alone .They import goods ,clear the goods and on taking the containers to their shops ,a lot of obstacles will be placed on them on the road with many levies from one pole to another .
Igbos contribute to the GDP of this country . #6.6 trillion naira was collected by Customs last year . Ain't they majorly the money paid by importers for clearing their goods ?

It's not true. Mr Commissioner ,Dr Oluyinka Olumide should stop deceiving the people and stop playing politics over the investments of people.
Obi was one of the developers of Trade Fair complex .He has a plaza there and over 200 shops since 1995 .

Fews day ago the commissioner for information still came out and gave a comprehensive explanation and also quoted the section of the law concerning land use act that give state govt the power to approve construction wether on federal or state land.

For your information all land belong to state govt regardless wether it was allocated to the FG. Trade fair was allocated to the FG but before any structure will be built on it, it will still need the approval of the state govt which you traders fail to receive approval from state government and the govt even gave you some lifelines to come and re validate your papers but you fail to do that now you re trying to be smart and proving to know the law more than the state govt

If indeed you have your approval papers, why not take the govt to court and prove your case? And till now non of the affected traders have come out to claim or show the approval given to them by either FG or state but play the victimisation card in your usual manner. I didn’t even bother to read the remaining nonsense you wrote and in conclusion if you lot can’t obey the rules of the land or you feel govt is victimising you,why not relocate your investment back to your region or any other state in Nigeria after all we have 36 states plus the FCT
