Most BBNaija Winners End Up Looking Broke’ – Deji Adeyanju Questions Reality Show Payouts

Human rights activist and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has sparked conversation online after questioning why most Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) winners appear to struggle financially despite the huge cash prizes announced at the end of each season. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, Adeyanju expressed skepticism about whether winners actually receive their full ₦120 million prize money, following the conclusion of the recently ended BBNaija Season 10, which crowned Imisi as the latest champion.

He wrote: “Do they really give BBNaija winners the prize money? The reason I’m asking is because many of them end up looking extremely broke thereafter.”

The lawyer’s post has triggered widespread debate among fans of the reality show, with many sharing mixed opinions. Some supported his view, arguing that several past winners seem to fade financially after their victory, while others suggested that poor financial management and lack of investment planning might be the real issue.

I know a guy who participated in a similar show in Calabar and won the star prize (a car). It was like Gulder Ultimate Search. He returned with the car and drove the car for about 3 months. Later, he started patronising ride hailers and then commercial buses.

Thereafter, a friend told me that it was the agreement they reached with him. Win a car, drive it for some months and return the car. Afterwards, you get rewarded with cash and you boost your chances of participating in bigger shows like BBNaija. I spent over 50k voting for this guy; that means we were scammed.

But then, considering the companies behind this BBNaija, I think the winners actually receive the prize money.

Non of the winners on that list is extremely broke ...he should name the one he saw that's extremely broke ...I see white money around my area sometimes and he looks comfortable, so is Mercy Eke , she is very comfortable,..I doubt Laycon is extremely poor , Miracle is a high flying pilot currently flying Gulfstreams

Pyhna is not extremely broke ..Katung is someone I know , he is far from being broke ..it's only Efe I can t speak for but he won't be broke .

None of the people you called out are broke, almost all of them have money flowing to there account from businesses they ventured into with the prize money they won, they invested it well into businesses, I don't think such people will ever be broke. This is not a debate.

Lol.... What people don't understand is 1that 120m include everything given to the winner like car, house, media tour, food for year all those are remove from the total amount. Which company will give out 120milion, car of almost 100miliom, house worth 50million, food and groceries for a year worth 50million and they think it's free. Even our Alist artist buy cars and others and pay in advance from show payment reason am not a fan of showbiz

How about buying a house of 80M and a car of 18M making 98M. You use the remaining 2M for maintenance and feed. Won't you go broke quickly considering you are a celebrity?

Why buy a house and a car of such worth, when you can invest into a profitable business, is only people that want to remain poor after making it, that will buy a house and a car without investing into a business first.

I think been a celebrity comes with it's ups and down. Just invest, when you start getting mega returns you can choose to buy a house worth that amount, but when you don't have something to fall back on, you are finished.

It depends on the individual I think, someone like me always invest, I don't spend money like that, knowing I have no investment to fall back on when things gets south.
