I dont think federal government should be supporting anybody in this matter.
They certainly should support the economy and entrepreneurs, not parasitical economic and social bandits unde the guise of unions.

He's already made. See how union leaders are dragging a private sector as if it's their father’s property 🤔 🙄 😒 😐 🙃.
They will survive. They have always survived at the expense of the masses. They simply want to continue to do so

Now that dangote refinery have redeploy them to work at sugar refinery, go and bring them to work at Dangote oil refinery. He can't be watching people he pays salary betrayed him. Use the same energy to return the supply of gas and Also return the gas prices to 900 naira per a kg.

Cement in China is $2.00
$7 in Nigeria
China imports gas
Nigeria does not

What the data says

EBITDA Margin Comparison, 1H 2023
According to a BusinessDay article, in the first half of 2023, Dangote’s Nigerian operations posted an EBITDA margin of about 58.8%, which was much higher than many large global peers:

Holcim (~15.6%)

Anhui Conch (~13.9%)

Heidelberg Cement (~17.1%)

Cemex, Taiwan Cement, UltraTech (~21%) each.

UMAHI CLAIMS HE IS DOING CONCRETE ROADS

Just allowing cement import will impact the COASTAL ROAD AND OTHER PROJECTS

THEY THREATENED TO ALLOW IMPORTS BUT HAVE GONE QUIET

You dey trust Umahi? Smh,,, Dangote is a crook all these PENGASSAN and NNPCL fight is just for him to gain monopoly into the Nigeria oil and petroleum sector once Dangote succeeds in this then he will be the major company regulating the price

Very simple and Obvious

A man selling cement $7 when it can be imported for under $3. BLOCK IMPORTS

This is the man we are being told is fighting for Nigeria

It is clear that he gas reached some kind of deal with Tinubu and we no longer hear of import

Personally I am not against Dangote
We should celebrate him
But he is a human being
No human should be above scrutiny and accountability

One major issue with unions in the oil industry is safety
Dangote trucks killing people weekly and no one can talk
The same trucks being used to transport so called hunters

You are very correct if anybody have the kind of monopoly Dangote have they will be the richest, the only thing remaining is for him to gain access to control of the petroleum industry then Nigerians are doom, NNPCL and other independent marketers are also fighting to be in control at the end of the day nobody really send Nigerians including the govt they are all selfish and greedy people

Dangote is not too big to be scrutinized in fact company like that are the easiest to scrutinize if we live in saner society

The Vice President shouldn't have picked sides.. Dangote isn't abiding by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria so no point speaking in his defense.

Moreover those PENGASSAN guys are not small people, these are senior executives in the Petroleum industry that have been in the game for long, so respect their views and objections when it comes to Labour law violations.
No sane Nigerian should be happy over sack of 800 Nigerian workers to be replaced by 2,000 Indians on Nigerian soil.. That's pure economic sabotage not minor labour issues.
Don't mind them my brother, Nigeria is bigger than PENGASSON while Dangote is bigger than Nigeria. That's how they helped him destroy IBETO cement just to make sure he rules the cement market.

Obidients said gas price already rose to 24k for a 12.5kg cylinder. I wonder where they buy theirs from because I filled today for 13k+

That was how my Obidient neighbour claims he is buying his own petrol at 1500/litre, he once prayed to get kidnapped so he can blame Tinubu grin

That's the anomaly they thrive in this is why none of them has ever thought to come together and start their own refineries. They are enemies of the masses they get richer while you suffer to get these necessary commodity.

PENGASSAN is only fighting to protect the membership dues it collects from workers.

If the refinery shuts down and everyone loses their jobs, who exactly will they protest against then?

Shameless economic saboteurs.

Then Nigerians will suddenly wake up and start looking for who to help them advocate, who will help them fight for a relief.

Well the VP has acknowledged what we have all along suspected. Dangote is an institution. Very weighty words indeed.

My own position has not changed and will not change in the future. Power without control is dangerous. I take no sides in this because I cannot predict the future of any individual, enterprise or economy.

One thing is certain in a poorly governed, feudal country such as this. Whosoever wins these battles will invariably enslave everyone else.

What qualitative governments everywhere in the world do is to make sure the economy works for everyone and this includes ensuring the growth and multiplication of enterprises to ensure there are as many cards as possible in the deck, as many options as possible.

I disagree with you. The issue isn't Dangote, he hasn't blocked anyone from building their own cement factories or refineries. The true problem is the cabal that collects refinery licenses only to build tank farms, ensuring they can access and export Nigerian crude and then import often substandard products. These organizations, which thrive on inefficiency, have never even demanded an NNPC testing lab to ensure quality.

This isn't monopoly at play by Dangote as you claim, it's market sabotage by these dubious groups and their backers.

What benefits have these established groups ever given Nigeria? The list of suffering they've caused while making huge profits is endless. They are the enemies. If you think Dangote isn't doing enough, raise the $20 billion yourself, build your own facilities, and let the quality of service determine who wins the market..

What exactly is PENGASSAN saying? Isn't it that if Dangote fires any union member ...for whatever reason ... then it is likely there will be another strike? This man is holding Dangote to ransom and the FG agreed in the agreement which was basically you can't fire my union member ... "if you don't like what he is doing in that sector out him in another sector." ... and the FG agreed.
Personally....Dangote should fire all employees who are members of PENGASSAN then rehire them on condition that they cannot join that union.

I tried for this country, patriotism is far from most of us. It was cabal/ cartel now the unions, funny enough NLC will later start Thier own, so what exactly?? It means they are not happy for this country. If Dangote had installed the facilities in Cotonou, then NLC and other unions will call him names.

Mind you, a lot of Nigeria are working with foreign companies with no union and enjoying very well. So what is union all about. It's not by force since the Union has no other contribution to building Thier own refinery and see how easy it is.

@hotseat
Young man, this is for your consumption.
You just spoke like it was just ABC.

During military rule, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) played a significant role in pro-democracy movements by staging crippling strikes that targeted Nigeria's vital oil sector. The most notable of these was a nine-week strike in 1994, which was organized alongside its sister union, NUPENG, in protest of the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election.
Strikes during military regimes
Abacha era (1993–1998): PENGASSAN, alongside NUPENG, became a powerful voice against the regime of General Sani Abacha.
1993: A nationwide strike in August 1993 was a factor that led to military President General Ibrahim Babangida stepping aside and the formation of an interim government.
1994: After the interim government was swiftly replaced by Abacha's military rule, the unions launched another major strike in July. This was aimed at pressuring the government to release and recognize the winner of the annulled election, Chief Moshood Abiola.
The Abacha regime retaliated by imprisoning the unions' leaders and imposing a sole administrator to oversee their affairs.

This PENGASSAN, what have they been able to profer as solution or valuable insight towards the idle states of the govt owned refieries. They call themselves senior petroleum workers right?
These Unions in Nigeria ARE PART OF THE CORRUPTION PILLARS THAT HAVE EVADED ALMOST ALL OUR ECONOMIC SECTORS:
- FROM BANKS - NUBIFIE TO ASBIFIE,
- PENGASSAN TO NUPENG,
- POWER SECTOR,
+ ELECTRIC 💡 SECTOR,
- THE NLC- that has become Limbo - due to overstretch - a once Neutral Body that is now siding an Opposition as Labour.
Your Union did not Strike because Nigerians have been in Darkness where Light 🚨 🕯️ have been difficult to be regular - right?
The main question ❓ is -
- How Accountable are they?
• Mr Usufo,
How do you answer the following -
That since 2- weeks now,the Gas 12.5 kg ⛽ that was sold for N11,000 IS NOW SOLD FOR N25,000- and you know nothing goes up in Nigeria- will not come down, thereby - you are adding to THE MASSES POVERTY PROBLEMS - because of your Unionism!
You people are Not Sensitive to the Plight of the Masses.
NIGERIANS will not Forget this arbitrary action.
Enjoy your time for now!
Just Facts and TRUTH!

PENGASSAN and NUPENG should go and sit down, they want to cripple the Dangote Refinery the way they did to the nation refineries. PENGASSAN, you should not solicit for workers to join your union through the back door.
NUT did not ask private school teachers to join their union, ASUU and NURTW did not solicit for members from the private sector. .

PENGASSAN should go and rest. A man has got to protect his investments from saboteurs who sabotaged the four federal refineries and left it moribund.

Dangote should come down very hard on them.

Na so Oshomole used the labour platform to become the tyrant that he is now.

If tomorrow, companies start laying off their Nigerian workers to employ foreigners, what moral ground will the FG have to oppose them when Dangote did his own and was supported?

We are complaining of unemployment in Nigeria, yet those killing our nation with their anti-Nigeria business practices are being praised and celebrated because they built refinery.

What Dangote did was wrong and supporting a business that treat workers like they have no right or value is unfortunate coming from the vice president.

Where will employment come from if investors that will create massive employment are being held ransom by unions.

Union is a good idea to protect workers interest, but shutting down critical oil n gas plants to make your point looks like overkill to me. Many people are finding it hard to get cooking gas as we speak
