Increase in IGR is not necessarily as a result of increase in taxes. It could mean increase in the number of businesses and individuals paying the taxes, it could mean increase earning power of businesses, improvement in collection methods etc. Increased IGR signals increasing independence from the FG purse and it should be applauded. 37 Likes 1 Share |

If government partners with an independent organization to collect and dispose waste from homes, shops, and companies and the people they packed their waste pays them, na tax abi? If government just like Enugu state government decides to channel pipe borne water to homes and charge homes and companies for water used on monthly basis and make money off it na tax abi? Or just as Enugu state government is currently doing, government decides to deploy CNG buses to pick and drop off people for a price, na tax e be abi? The list is endless and you don’t even need to tax anybody to do all of that but majority of una no get sense, na why una dey vote Emilokan. However, i noticed one thing from this your yeye post; If it were to be Lagos, you would tell us how Tinubu made it happen and how great it is. If it were the reverse with Enugu, you would say that Enugu is a parasite to other states/regions. Enugu state is taxing everything and anything that breath. If you buy something, you must pay tax before drivers can transport it. When you buy cement, you pay between N2000 to N5000 depending on the number of bags before you can negotiate transport with the driver. If you buy wood, you pay N5k and also get Tax by the forestry department about N10k. You buy chippings, you pay N5K per trip. You buy sand, you pay N2k per trip. ImpartialGuy:People have to pay taxes. Taxes is what government uses in paying teachers, doctors and build infrastructure. The reason there's serious dearth of infrastructure in Nigeria is that we don't pay taxes. We see taxes as abnormal. Nigeria's tax revenue to GDP is about 10% 5 Likes 1 Share |
