I Believe In One Nigeria, God Did Not Make A Mistake In Putting Us Together - Soludo

Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged his administration’s readiness to continue to promote Nigeria’s unity.

He stated this yesterday when non-natives from the North, South West, South-South and other states of the South East geopolitical zones resident in Anambra converged on the International Conference Centre (ICC), Awka, the state capital, to endorse his re-election bid in the November 8, 2025, governorship poll.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Soludo said, “I’m deeply humbled by the outpouring of sentiments expressed by various tribes. I appreciate your support for us to go for a second term. I do not take this for granted.

I believe in one Nigeria. As an undergraduate, I was a coordinator of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the 1983 election. The motto of NPN was ‘One Nation, One Destiny’.

God didn’t make a mistake in putting us together as people of the same country with the potential to be the leaders of the black race. So, wherever we find ourselves, we should accept each other and work the talk,” he said.

According to him, “I’ve been in public service at the national level and I am now in Anambra State and we live out the same principles.

I don’t care where you come from. Some of my best friends are Muslims from the North. The best two drivers I ever had were from the North. Two of them are from Kogi and it didn’t matter to me where they came from.

“Some of my finest friends were not of the same religion as I. They are not Igbo, not Christians. That is why in Anambra, we have one state, one agenda. We don’t have boundaries. Religion, location and local government are not our concern. Once you live in Anambra, you are of Anambra. I thank all of you for being good citizens of Nigeria,” Soludo said.

Earlier in his speech, the spokesperson of the organisers of the governor’s second term bid endorsement held on the aegis “Patriots”, Chief Damian Enekwechi, eulogised Soludo’s administration, saying it had performed well.

He said all non-natives resident in the state, cutting across all states in the country’s six geopolitical zones, decided to endorse the governor’s second-term bid so that the state would attain the Dubai-Silicon Valley status of the administration’s dream.

Let the truth be told, the contraption called Nigeria is not working.
We will do better by staying apart and developing at our own pace.May be as regions governed by his own people or as separate nations!

Whenever you want people to obey without asking questions in underdeveloped countries just mention “God said “ or “Allah kwa” everybody go begin fear.

And fear kills creativity that’s why Africans rarely explore. They will be like “leave it o! God will be angry or the ancestors will be angry.”

Very gullible fearful people

If Britain that created Nigeria could give one of its areas, Northern Ireland, referendum in 1972

If Britain that created Nigeria could give another one of its areas, Scotland, referendum in 2014

If Britain that created Nigeria could leave the EU in a 2016 referendum

Then you that the British made a Nigerian should be wise enough to know that no union should be 'by force'

And who is forcing any Union on your people? This is my problem with you people. You’re writing and pulling data out of your rectums like illiterates.

In 1954, during the Lagos Constitutional Conference, when Chief Obafemi Awolowo mooted the idea of a SECESSION CLAUSE; who opposed & rejected it? NNAMDI AZIKIWE.

I guess Nnamdi Azikwe never saw the future and thought your people will continue to dominate Nigeria with their greed.

So, why do you keep disturbing our peace with a false narrative of a Forced Union on your people? Besides, your people are in the National Assembly, tell them to move a motion for SECESSION and your IMAGINARY BIAFRA will appear like a magic.

The union of Nigeria is not based on what Zik or Awolowo wants, they are just two people out of millions, and neither Zik or Awolowo was there when the British created Nigeria

The question is, who wants to be a Nigerian and who doesn't? Thats the question every ethnic group should decide, and not what Zik or Awolowo wants

And who is in the best position to decide that for your people? A faceless & irrelevant person on Nairaland or your elected representatives in the National Assembly?

Abi you think the Hausa/Fulanis and the Yorubas will give you referendum from their pockets?

Why am I even wasting my precious time educating & debating you. I am not responsible for your education & comprehension.

Thats why we backward Africans. The people who created Nigeria and made us Nigerians are using referendums to freely decide their destiny. We that they made Nigerians are busy fighting civil wars, killing our selves in the millions, quarrelling, talking about Zik and Awolowo and fighting each other just to uphold their colonial creation

One Nigeria has done more harm than good.

And please we should leave God out of Nigeria's business.

God didn't amalgamate Nigeria; Lord Lugard did.

Nigeria could become a great nation with a well-crafted constitution. However, adopting a new constitution is improbable, as some groups, despite its shortcomings, gain from the existing one and will oppose changes that threaten their privileges. Transforming the country will likely require multiple generations over centuries.

Why not also put pressure on your representatives?

Oh, I guess you want this forced unity right?

Shouldn't all the tribes put pressure on their representatives?

Because Nnamdi Azikiwe brought the independence clause that we should become Nigeria doesn't mean you should continue using gun to force people that brutally hate each other to live together. While perpetually neglecting a region.

See how your black heart is reasoning, you justify the treatment melted on a region because one the founding fathers who happens to come from that region initiated and inserted the independence clause.

See how evil your thinking is? That is why Nigeria is a backward country.

Yes this is what we are supposed to do

But just look at the rotten politics full of religious hatred, ethnic bigotry our politicians keep playing

How will things augur well? Tell me. Those who should know keep making toxic, atrocious sentimental biased statements. The painful thing is instead of condemning them, they are celebrated.

I mean are we waiting for oyibo people to tell us what to do to solve our problems?

Elsewhere if their high ranking govt officials start making these kind of prejudicial statements the person will be removed. Go and find out. But here in Nigeria people who should know keep making these statements., and masses keep celebrating them. Whether it is low IQ I don't know.

People are more loyal to their tribe than the country NIGERIA
People allegiance is more to their ethnic group than Nigeria.

Even Nairaland moderators find it difficult to be neutral for God sake. Always taking sides.

The man is a 'educated fool'!

Igbo hating 'one Nigerianists' that use the status-quo to disproportionately benefit themselves and their regions over the heads of everyone else tend to love the slavish and appeasing likes of Soludo! When they yap about 'tell your politicians to support your bid for secession', they say this safe in the knowledge that the hegemonic Nigerian state has empowered and elevated the ilk of Soludo, Umahi, Uzodinma and Nwaebonyi to positions of relevance and authority in the south-east!

Did God after putting us together dissolve soviet union, hindustan, Ethiopia , Yugoslavia. Are those people children of Satan and we are the only children of God.

Could it be possible that God has only interest in Nigeria.

Ignore that one! They always trot out that laughable line of 'Azikiwe arm-twisted Ahmadu-Bello and Awo to agree the 'secession clause' is not included in the constitution' only to try and buy time for themselves while placing the blame for the intractable mess they're sustaining and benefitting from at the doorstep of Ndigbo!

You didn't reason before you replied me because you didn't read my comment properly. You just rushed to your keyboard.

Was it not him who insisted on a One-Nigeria?

Which of the Premiers then supported his vision for a One-Nigeria?
Is Nigeria united to you?

No one claimed that Zik arm-twisted bello and Awo during the "secession Clause" debacle.
The fact of the matter is that, the colonial master, not wanting their largest colony in Africa break up in the near future, supported Zik's stance and as such the Clause was not inserted into our constitution.
