A couple of years ago,roads were constructed with about 10 million naira per kilometer.

The amount presently being used in constructing road per kilometer has so skyrocketed that it is very difficult for anyone that knows to mention it and you won't even hear it from me too even as I am an Engineer.

The inflation currently in the country has cut across so many things and it will be very difficult to construct roads with this present amount as it is just too expensive to say the list.
We are in a dire situation.

With good drainages and asphalt laying, can we say its now 1 Billion naira per km?

You can imagine the amount being used now ,how many roads will they now construct.
Nigeria is presently a joke.

When we warned about Tinubu devaluing the Naira , this is what we mean ,his policies have devalued the Naira so much state govts might not be able to construct more than 12kms at a go

Exactly, Nigerians should not expect massive road construction as it used to be before.
The currency devaluation has crippled all sectors.
Presently ,just expect patching of roads here and there.

I work with FERMA and the amount being used to repair roads alone is alarming not to talk of constructing Virgin roads

Are you sure roads were built for under $30k per km just couple years ago? Do you even know what 1 km means? Show one example, or stop pretending you know what you’re talking about

Very cheap for the government
That means it’ll only take 500billion to construct road from west all the way down to south east Nigeria

Way cheaper, e no even reach the amount they use for item 7 services or aso rock maintenance


Now the question is why coastal road construction taking 15trillion naira budget if they’re not thieves

The cost per kilometer of a 750km project cannot be determined. It can only be estimated or averaged. And conditions may change. This is not building a kiosk or chicken hutch. The terrain and soils are different. Some will need more work or fillings, some different contractors, some will be bridge. Cost of materials and labour from place to place, weather, some diversions, some unexpected challenges, all differ.
We should focus on intelligence, professionalism and patriotism instead of theatrics and media trials.

We talking about machines used to construct., the parts, the cost of transportation of material etc.

In Naira terms all have gone up

These people are bleeding this country dry

Driving on this so called concrete road is very uncomfortable

The ride is never smooth

It was N70m per km even as of 12 years ago, stop capping

Road construction is pretty expensive to be honest. Even if you pour 20 tips of granites it will not even show for 200 meters.

Umahi don’t want to give it out to Rufai Useni on air. He knew the cost but he is trying to play politics with delay tactics
