Wallade:You keep saying ethics of the profession but you don't seem to understand what you saying. Oseni did his job. However the questions, if he didn't, Arise as a TV station themselves would have rebuked him cos it would affect their brand. If you watched the TV interview, from the word go, Umahi made the TV interview about Rufai before Rufai reiterated it again, even before going further with the interview. All that aside, whether it is average cost or cost per kilometer, where accountability exist, the figures should be put out there again and again as many times it is asked where there is nothing to hide and all about service. The demeanor of a public servant is more critical here, not the interviewer because it says alot about how they hold on to power. It reveals the level of impunity mentality up there. In trying to show authority, he said he is a professor in that field, when ask which institution bestowed him such honor, he replied he is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Lok, I no wan argue am much, Nigeria and Nigerians don't see anything wrong in the way they governed. No accountability, no regards to process and systems. Abuse of power and self aggrandizement. If you okay with it, congratulations. Rufai is wrong and Umahi is right. I just pray May Nigeria never happen to you. |

hush15:In the USA or whatever country you reside, can a minister explain the cost items and costing techniques of a road construction project to you on TV? Can you refer us to an example of such? Stop making us look stupid. That is better explained in a documented correspondence or in a session that the person the requested such information can get by officially requesting for it and approval from the ministry to share the information. It is most definitely complex, loaded and technical to explain. Besides, if you must require that information from the minister on a live program, you have be professional and employ decorum in achieving your expectations. Otherwise, the minister might just ignore or request you to officially write to the ministry to have that information. Would you crucify the minister for that? I am too sure if the information is put to Oseni or yourself, you guys may not understand it except you get construction engineers or quantity surveyors to explain it. |

Wallade:On your second paragraph, He is the minister, what approval is he looking for? From the NEC of his party? Even if he can't furnish the answers on air, his demeanor about it on air is still wrong. That is the problem. His demeanor, trying to talk as if he is superior to Rufai, yet it is the tax of rufai and other Nigerian citizens and companies that foot his bill. Don't loose the sight of it. He is not superior, he is accountable to Nigerians and the last I checked, Rufai is a Nigerian. Then on you thoughts that ministers abroad don't give numbers on interviews is wrong. They do even when such questions arise from their arc nemesis in parliamentary or the ordinary student asking research questions. The government on a very good day even have on their website the way their tax monies is spent in UK for instance. Lets stop making excuses for anarchist tendencies. We need to make government accountable for our collective wealth which brings me to the last thing, I am a Nigerian like you living in Lagos and a native of the very same Lagos. I am be opportuned than you or not but that's inconsequential. I just a country that works, has values and virtues, that benefits the majority and minorities alike. A country where equity, justice, peace, accountability and sustainability are watch words. Not one animal farm where some feel they more superior than the other. |

Both Umahi and Rufai deserved each other. Two arrogant, uncouth, mouthy, hawkish peacocks turning a simple interview into an ego battle. I wish they were in the same room physically, then they would have settled it with their fists since neither of them was being reasonable. You would be biased to think that either of them was professional. |

Misterone:Respect is earned and not forced...this is common sense. You don't go about forcing people to respect you, only an egocentric and arrogant individual does that...I guess you are defending your mentor with equal mindset. |

Add akpabio to the list. Very reprehensible men with an annoying attitude. They love talking down on Nigerians as if they are kindergarten pupils who can't think for themselves. Not everyone is as stupid as their followers. |

Lifestone:Only God in heaven knows the kind of background most of you are coming from that holding leaders to account for the people is always seen as an insult. Please desist from this parochial/ native mindset for goodness sake. |

Lifestone:I watched the exchange Rufai didn't insult Umahi. Rather the minister began the insult and derailment of the show and made a lot of false claims. I think he got emotional and should have smarter than playing into the hands of Rufai who was just asking tough questions without insults. |

JetApartment:Stop talking nonsense! A journalist is there to present burning issues of public concern to the guest! They're not lords! They're there to serve the public, not take sides and become opposition parties mouthpiece. A journalist that has taken sides cannot be respected! |

hush15:Of course, on the matters of Works and Construction in Nigeria as it concerns the Federal Government, Umahi is superior to Oseni Rural. He is accountable primarily to the president of Nigeria, his account to Nigerians is secondary. If you need any information or detail of any minister's fiduciary duty, you would need to make an official request for it. Give us an example of instance whereby a foreign minister was giving such accounts on TV. Refer us to the video, at least the incident between Umahi and Oseni is on video on Arise TV. We all want a country that works but Rural Oseni's approach to interviewing Umahi was wrong, unprofessional and crude. |

I am surprised that this issue of cost per kilometer came up again. Engr. Umahi has educated Rufai on this question before. It was this same question that led to a situation where it was assumed that Dr. Abati shut up Rufai on an earlier show. You can check it out. Rufai was just trying to be mischievous. Umahi should not honour any more invites from a panel with Rufai amazingspiderma: |

Misterone:If asking the current minister of works Umahi how much the cost of road per kilometer he is constructing is rude and is not a burning issue of public concern to you then you need a straight 40 days dry fasting before deliverance. |
