NPA use to have 20k plus workers but due to PPP around 2004. downsizing happened, more than 15k lost their jobs.

We are going far sef, is it not Cardoso that came and in the name of restructuring people lost thier jobs at CBN.

I'm currently scared for the likes of NNPC.
If the likes of Atiku & Peter obi comes into power there is a high chance they will sell NNPC off.
just like that 6-7k will lose their jobs. Most likely few with connections will be shipped to Nurpc, nmdpra and co

If you dey inside government job better be planning your life and pray say nothing go happen during your time. If you sit with the mind "na govt job" you're doing yourself harm

However, I’d like to pose a general question ,in cases where an employee, whether in government service or a private firm, experiences a serious health condition, accident, or loss of a body part that leaves them unable to work for years, does the organization continue to pay salaries or provide any long-term support? I think it’s also important to factor in such unforeseen circumstances as we plan our careers, even though we don’t pray for them.

Incase of sickness for FG it depends on certain factors.

-Grade level of the affected person
-The Mda the person is working with (each mda different)
-how long is the illness (few months, running in years)


In this case you asked for years, if the illness or injury was caused during work. The mda will most likely cover majority of bills (surgery or even fly you abroad)
While your salary and allowances will be intact.
At most they will redeploy you to a department that doesn't need much work so that you still be an employee while taking care of yourself.
Highest when its time for staff audit, you go show face mark attendance and be going. If the person is a senior grade level he won't even need to come sef, his mates will cover up for him ....and life goes on.
Generally Fg workers are compassionate with each other in cases like this except the person affect is a bad person that people don't like.

Some mda even cover retired staff medical expenses with their spouse even for things like surgery.

But if the Mda too dey form serious and they like to do everything official...after a while they will let you go with a good severance package especially when they need to downsize. The sick fellows are the first to be affected when they want to downsize they ask for everybody's medical records


For private firms, it depends on the organisation too.

private people no dey like hear anything money. Except the person is a high ranking official in the company. But if its a bloody officer (lmao) they will let you go.

Ive seen a low level staff at company that had a vehicle accident since for more than a year. And they kept him.
He comes to office and just chills , once its closing he goes home and he collects his salary.

I am happy I realized this early. During my undergraduate studies, I learned freelancing here on Nairaland with my old Nairaland profile.

I was 18 then, and when my first cash-out came, everyone was congratulating me saying “the sky is my limit” (LOL😂)

I was feeling on top of the world. I started saying, "I don't need a government job or any job to be precise."

The cash-out in dollars was sweet o, I became a big boy in school so much that some people started saying I was into fraud.

But as work choked me out, I started to lose focus in school. I was always working to meet a deadline.

I later recovered, but it taught me one thing, and that is the fact that money isn’t everything, and I am not built for pressure or uncertainty.

That is why I started learning Amazon KDP, so I can stack up more. While watching out for when a better government job comes, I'll just go for it

I ws at one òrg one certain time.. The certs wer boys carry no be small. U will see smb wit abroad experience + Msc... 9ja boy just carry first degree, it can only be God to gift u the job, seeing such certificates & experience, u go already disqaualify ur self..

Started with article and blog post writing, then switched to book writing (for the bigger bag) . This is because articles and blog posts are cheap, like $5 per 500 words article, so you need a lot of jobs to break even.

But with book writing, I just need 2 to 3 to clients and I can make like $500. Sometimes on a good month it reaches $700.

Now I run two accounts. I have turned into a contractor in my writing account, where I take the jobs and give them to my writers. I pay them and take my profits.

In my second account I am now offering software engineering services. I do the little I can like the front end, then outsource the rest to a team of developers I have gathered, the new account is slowly gaining traction. My aim is $1k dollars in profit. After ads and paying my team.


The reason I have gathered a team and turned into a contractor is because I am currently learning amazon kdp from a mentor i met here in nairaland. When I have break even in kdp i won't even touch any freelance jobs again, I will just supervise.

If you want to get clients, learn gig optimization on fiverr, while on upwork, you need to learn how to write proposals and buy connects (which costs money). So as a newbie it's better you start with fiverr, learn gig optimization, price your gigs very low, get jobs, do them well, get 5 stars from clients and the rest will be history.

the dirty job isn't literal sir not dirty like dirty. I meant those doing the site work are the casual workers. An old friend is a causal worker with TCN in Lagos. They are always on Transmission site. So I don't know what you're talking about when you say casual workers aren't field workers

70% of government agencies don't take home more than 250k at entry level. It's the allowances and bonuses that makes the work interesting. Don't let anyone deceive you please. But regardless, ITF is a great place to work with those bonuses.

depends on their structure. For some few Agencies, GL8 is masters while GL7 is BsC. But for ITF it should be most likely Bsc for GL8 and MSc for GL9
