Hello Nairalanders, so I picked up these snails in my compound and decided to keep them until I'm ready to consume them. Please I need people with snail farming experience to give me suggestions and information I need to have for a successful breeding of these snails as I wouldn't want to lose the tiniest of them.
As you can see in the picture, I put soil in an aluminium container, then covered with glass.
It's been about 2 weeks now, I noticed they always like to come up towards the glass to stay instead of the soil. Also, their favourite leaf seems to be Ugwu leaf. I give them varieties like ugwu leaves, pawpaw leaves, cocoyam leaves, banana peels etc.

What role did ChatGPT play in your snailery?

Use anything like net to prevent ants from coming into your farm, that's the thing that destroyed mine some few years ago.

Ants can destroy snail farm like a plague.

Remove the glass air won't go in with the glass on top hence they creep up

in as much I have nothing against chatGPT users BUT abeg, normal internet searches should be favored as it allows you make use of your Sense more.

Also you end up with responses which exposes you to more information than you initially came for. I rather spend time going from one forum threads to another, or one website to another, THAN using chatGPT or the likes. BUT that's just me.

Just make sure the weeds in your area are not sprayed with weedkiller agrochemicals

Reason one has to prepare and make necessary adjustments for those. Even in poultry, and almost any kinda animals, Ans and other predators such as snakes, frogs, lizards are things your cage / housing type should prevent

Snail farming is lucrative.
Been a long long time I wanted to go into snail farming BUT didn't due to their long slow growth rate. Same with PineApple farming. Wonder why something wey go take less than 2-minutes to consume, go take over a year to grow.

na just recently I finally decided to go into snail farming starting with a *** by *** cage I built myself.

Don't waste your time, energy and money rearing this local breed. They won't grow big for marketable size. I've tried it before. Go to a reputable snail farm and buy exotic breeds for rearing.

sandy perfarable because dey do eat soil too. Loamy and clay soil will log alot of water, sandy will take time to dry up and those snail need watering often.

Decades back, my dad ventured into snail farming just to pass time whenever he wasn't traveling for work. I can say that they absolutely love chunky watermelon slices and veggies, we also made some water available in there. Take off the glass and replace with a net or mesh secured tight to keep predators away. Ensure to change their soil often because they love to make a mess every now and then.
